Better save my money and purchase a Japanese car next time.

To get Tom Yam parts is better than getting Ma La parts.

Same same,Japanese cars also got alot of China made parts,my Mazda 6's 19" Rima are also made in China.[but the Q.C. is very good.]

Now,almost everything around us are Made in China, inc your Smartphone.

China got Mfg VW & Audi Cars,so not surprise alot of parts are made there & shipped back to Germany.

Made in China parts are fine, provided they are of the same standard & quality as those made in the manufacturer's home country.

So your new wheel cap also made in China?

You may want to consider Korean cars, with mostly (still) made in Korea parts.

IMHO, current Kimchi's overall long-term quality is better than Tomyam or Mala

I have test driven the passat 1.8 TSI and the 2.0 TSI at Jervois road (SE was nice).

If you have the money go for the 2.0 TSI with the wet 6 speed, definitely wont be disappointed.

The 1.8 TSI feels like my mk VII golf, accelerating is effortless but its when you slow down and want to accelerate again then you will feel the GB retardedness (not juddering).

Also for those buying VW, the listed price is bulls**t de. Just be abit aggressive and persistent that you will buy,  the SE will nego with you de.

Dont be shy, just ask for the 5 years GB warranty

Neutral Newbie

I am evaluating purchase of the 2lit highline model ... believe that comes with the wet clutch.  Anyone think thats a terrible buy? I used to own a Jetta and while i loved the ride and its features, the constant EPS/ABS warning light drove me nuts.  and when i say constant i mean once in 9 months, with a 150$ damage.

Anyone have such other issues with their Passat?

I got the Highline 3 months ago.  It is very powerful like the GTI and yet quiet which I like very much.

The build is very solid too.  The AID like Audi's virtual cockpit is a "wow" factor and a talking point with most of my passengers.

No regrets (at this point of time) although you can get the A4 1.4TSI with lots of spare change.

Turbocharged

Seems like VW 6 speed auto tranny is just as problematic as 7 speed DSG.

Had entire 6 speed gearbox replaced during warranty, and now, 120,000km later, the entire gearbox failed.

Quoted $15,000 to replace brand new gearbox by VW,

Any cheaper options for replacement of entire gearbox?

Call up the gearbox specialists to check out alternatives? I ever overhauled a gearbox with Ellipse Auto and it was a good experience. Look for Alvin (the boss)
