I test drove both the 1.8 7-spd and 2.0 6-spd - basically the 6-spd Passat is the same platform as the Golf GTI. Naturally, the latter felt much better to drive, plus the spec on the car (in terms of trim and kit levels) is better than that on the 1.8. But the price really leaves much to be desired and the SE was comparing it to the ilk of a BMW 3 and 5 series.

Plus the exterior look of the car didn't particularly excite any of my family members - myself included.

So whilst the overall drive feels excellent, and tremendously improved from previous versions - the Passat remains a Pass for me at this time.

Perhaps the Arteon will change my mind.

I am considering a 2010 B6 1.8T with famous 7 speed DSG. Car is hardly used and in extremely good condition.

I just want to know, how much is it to fix the DSG if it failed?

Anyone encounter issue in a 2016 1.8T Passat? Considering to buy one..

Hi I am driving a B8 1.8T highline Passat. Bought from VW in Dec 2015.

Currently close to 65000km. So far so good. DSG Gearbox no issue.

I had 2 version of VW ( Visit Workshop ) Passat and Passat CC, in 2000 and 2016-2018 respectively.

Older Passat has less issue and problem, so i set forth with PCC, it turned out to be a wolf in sheep clothing, while I don't deny PCC has great body contour and driving pleasure, speed and acceleration, low body roll and aesthetic curl was a beau, how can the German engineer be so bad, with decades of car engineering experts, thy can't come up with a best solution and fault rectification. it only only failed, but fail miserably.

The Megatronic of B7 gears damaged the most, the last straw that broked the camel back was within a short span of Y16-18, i and experienced 3 megatronics overhaul, which cost me an arm and a leg.

I had enough of VW PCC,

Thanks. Passat wasn't something on my list. Was supposed to be a Skoda Superb.

Test drove the Passat and was really impressed. Got the CL at a price that I cannot resist. [:p]

Just bought a passat 1.8 B7 as second owner.

Am happy with the existing Car, but next year 2019 will be 5 years.

Need some advise if I should consider to change or not?

It's my 1st car ownership by the way, have no clue how to go about it.

Any response from you guys will be great, appreciate.

Kind of late as everybody else is on the B8 Passat for several years already and with some folks even waiting for the new B9 Passat to be released end 2019. There are already many pictures and videos about the new B9. Here is one from Europe... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t31Rdbbzvx8

The B7 Passat is a solid edition. I had one (2014 release) for some 4 years before letting her go this year. You may want to look at my write up on my B7 Passat here at this LINK

Owning a car in Singapore is a pain. Buying at high prices and selling it at scrap. The dealer usually are the ones laughing all the way to the bank.

Plan your finances and aim for a budget before you want to buy a new car next year.

Do some calculations on this current Passat on its value next year based on the price you bought, depreciation, etc.

I can give you a rough gauge how much to fork out for a new car if you plan to change next year.

Is the Passat giving you a lot of problems? Else why change?

Dear Guys,

Appreciate your responses on my post.

Actually, I am more concern of after the 5 years warranty. [No clue on workshop except for Authorised dealer Volkswagen to repair]

Which is why I am considering to change or not.

At the moment, no issue on the Car except that twice it happened to have ABS issue. [Touchwood]

I agree that B9 looks gorgeous, maybe can plan to save up money 1st. [LOL]

Hi Guys,

By the way, I have a few questions.

May I know:

1) How often you check Car tires pressure?

2) How frequent to do Car grooming? [Once a year] or....
