i have a real Mr Lai ( real name) in my working place. He always use the phrase ' I dont know' just so that he doesnt need to answer any question.....we decided to name him Mr I Dont Know. No wonder he has that kind of attitude, must be his surname getting to his character!

What is the meaning when ppl call u Mr. Lai? My colleague were havin some office banter so when i step in to join, they were talking abt calling someone Mr Lai.

Unfortunately i do not understand this name calling of Mr Lai, n d joke is now on me that i do not noe the meaning of Mr Lai. So can any kind hearted soul explain to me??

Normally pple call you Mr Lai or 'Sing Lai' mandrain (surname Lai) meaning "depending on people"..... -_-

You depending on people.... [:(]

Another common one in hokkien is 'Sing Whar', Whar people aka going near people or also depending on people, no backbone type always depending on people, in malay is 'tong pang case' ...
