Kinnerman 1st Gear July 15, 2014 Share July 15, 2014 My experience, I'd say they usually hog on the right lane, be it peak and non-peak hours. Some even in middle lane can drive 60km/hr with 5 car lengths empty ahead, and when drive past, I see a fairly old guy...though I pity the old man coz he may need to make a living, he is indeed causing a road hazard to many other road users by hogging the road. Of course not all taxi drivers does that, some car drivers also do the same and simply living in their own world despite getting horn at or flashed. Its frustrating when these hoggers take the express lane with 5-10 car lenghts empty ahead of them! My sentiments exactly! Also 60km/h limit lorries in 2nd lane of 4 lane expressways! How not to have jams???

Kangadrool Supersonic August 11, 2014 Share August 11, 2014 (edited) usual excuses. Just claim accordingly. You mean they can see potential passengers, but cannot see bikers on bikes? I am sure if there's a $5 note on the road, he would be able to spot it. Stationary at red light, right smack in the middle of lane. Taxi driver claimed that he did not see my vehicle. @toothiewabbit @superbored Edited August 11, 2014 by Kangadrool

BabyBlade Internal Moderator August 11, 2014 Share August 11, 2014 usual excuses. Just claim accordingly. You mean they can see potential passengers, but cannot see bikers on bikes? To be fair to the driver, it was a light impact - just enough to jerk my bike forward and crack the border of his license plate. No damages to my vehicle. I could have probably nitpick on my mudguard, tyre, alignment, etc but there was no point. Bike too sturdy. He apologized (albeit reluctantly) but did not bother to check if there were any damages to my vehicle or his own. My bf who was with me was damn pissed at the driver and the latter went "Sorry lor. So what you want me to do?". His nonchalant attitude will piss anyone off. Hope he doesn't kill anyone on the road.

Please write in to their feedback/claims unit if unker plays hardball with you. Hope you are ok

Ahgong Supercharged August 11, 2014 Share August 11, 2014 sigh... cabs these days are getting bigger and bigger. perhaps all the taxi drivers need some refresher course on how to handle big cars? cos i see some of them, driving the turbo assisted 2.4s maciam like they rushing to go hell gate to join the queue for reborn process liddat. then there are others who drive like they dunno how to gauge the size of their car relative to the road they are on. quite fed up at times. esp at these bad apples. Not to condone the way he drove, but this thing about bikes getting hit while stationary at the stop lights by a car behind happens way too often. Not just cabs but 4 wheelers in general. Its better to lane split when coming to a stop imo. Not to be sexist, i am unsure if u were the rider........but I was once at ws......3 claims on table, I ask whet happen, .....was told all lady riders.....i say huh? thought lady driver less reckless....safer compared to male......shop say....thats the problem......law by law....tend to stop in the centre of lane at the lights........ The thing is we can feedback, auth can have campaign on this (if ever)......but I think such incidents will be a recurring prob for some time to come. So while waiting for positive changes, it may be helpful to make some adjustments..... Seperately, maybe, its time for lta to allow those flashing triangle red light installed around the tail light area (something like what some cars have at the centre area of the rear bumper. or....have those boleh bike pattern......have number plate lighting......nightclub style.....but imo, lta aside, its a tad 'blue' for me. Last but most importantly, I hope u & ur bf are both safe & sound.
Ahgong Supercharged August 11, 2014 Share August 11, 2014 it is never the car's fault. is always the soft-matter (software dun seem to be the appropriate word) between the wheel and the seat that is the aye-dee-ten-tee. and training the softmatter is the key to making things work better and more efficiently. problem is, to these companies that are leasing out bigger cars, they dun care. that is the crux of the problem. Agree. But I doubt the fault lies in the cars. ↡ Advertisement
