There are many. Search for OSM and Australia

MalSing and malfree mainly update free maps only for Malaysia and Singapore with lots of useful POIs.

Correction. Malfreemaps is a free map project community. If you say they develop the maps dan it will be no longer free. Plus they only do ASEAN country maps. I dun think Australia is one of them.

If you Google you will find what you are looking for. Even iTunes have an offline map for Australia and it's free to download. Is it really that difficult?

Downloaded the map and I can enable the map at Tools>Setting>Map>Info, but when I click at address icon, the error say "No Maps", why is that the case?

why not buy a SIM card for $2/day with unlimitted data and national call and use the google map? save all the trouble to download the map.

I spent quite some time looking for OZ map 3 years back as we planned to go to Perth. We got one for the Garmin but we do encounter blank maps on more suburbs and on newer expressways...

Compare Malfree/MalSing to Garmin, Malfree/Malsing are more up-to-date, so I'm looking for maps similar to Malfree/MalSing maps.

When i stayed in Melbourne for 3 wks, i buy Telstra sim card & use Google map. No issue le.

Yesterday I used Google to go to a nearby supermkt in an area I'm not familar with. The bloody google map route me to a much longer route but luckily my friend who went there earlier was able to direct me there...... <_<

I assumed you tried to install the OSMAustralia map. The map there is broken into many maps comprising of the various states within the country. I believed the each state map is usable on its own but you will have to combine all the maps together if you intend to have the map of the whole country. The site did not mention specifically how to go about doing it but from what I know and have done it in the past, you need to have the Gmaptool software to stitch them together.

There are many other community based mapping website which I have forgotten about but will post them here if I remember them. And also, if you know where to look for you can actually get original Garmin map of almost all the countries in the world. Some are unlocked map while others are locked and need some know-how to unlock or even join them together with the correct mapping softwares.

I notice that the Garmin Australian map can only search by road names but not hotel names, is my search done correctly? but I don't have issues with my Garmin Singapore map.
