Used Car Dealers Feedback (Part 2)!

I thought I shared some bad experience with Hua Yang. After completing all paper works, getting the loan approved and the inspection lined up they first came up and said there's a major issue with the gearbox which needed to be overhauled. Next day they said it was just a solenoid valve but there's more bad news. From a "friend" they got to know that the car has a mileage of 90k+ as of some time in 2016 while the ODO shows only 70k. They won't provide the name of this friend or how this guy know about nor any other proof. End of the story, they ask me if I still want to buy or not to which I said no thank you. Terrible company.

Well, at least they informed you 1st and you got out of the deal, Or could be they found a better offer and come up with some excuses not to sell to you [sly]

at least they have been honest with you and let you know the problem, and not after selling you the car. How terrible can that be?

Mark said 'they ask me if I still want to buy or not',  so it's not an excuse to not to sell.

if i really like that vehicle, i would that the problems be rectified and a 6 mths (?) warranty from them.

If they offered to repair the gearbox and solenoid valve, they should be rated as OK instead.  They, also, could have kept quiet about the mileage difference.

I feel there are still good dealers in the market

Anyway i learnt that there is very little chance the dealer can get away with it as its considered cheating

my 2 cents worth

Hi All,

Am considering a car from these guys.
Has any seniors done business with them before? Any Reviews?

Searched the forums but came up blank.

on the bright side, at least the only thing you lose is time and not real money....

of course, for some, their time is also very expensive.... maybe 500/hours ppl... then its lugi liao..

If your PARF value on paper is $14K at the moment and the dealer is offering you $17K, that means they're paying $3K above paper value already. You may want to check with other dealers on how much they can take your car in and if you can get a better body value than $3K.

There is some demand for Estimas now because some dealers are taking them in view of the more flexible arrangement to renew the COE (either 5 or 10 years), do some refurbishing and then marketing it for a higher price which gives them more room to earn by targeting a certain segment of buyers looking for this sort of option.

Take a look at sgcarmart.... your model in the same range is selling at depre of 19k-22k per yr

http://www.sgcarmart.com/used_cars/info.php?ID=627935&DL=1163

http://www.sgcarmart.com/used_cars/info.php?ID=628002&DL=3130

If the dealer buys from you and put it up for sale, his price should be ard 25k

the dealer wants to make profit, assuming your car in good condition and the dealer is honest and intend to make the car interior plus engine gilat gilat.... cost maybe ard 1.5k (inhouse mechanic n grooming, paint touchup)

25k - (17k+1.5k) = 6.5k

The dealer intends to make 6.5k out of the deal.

There is an option you could sell directly to people who are interested. Many would want to buy your car and with the option to extend the COE themselves later. This you can get closer to 25k instead of 17k.

You can try Carro which will matchmake direct buyers to you (fee I think about $250), but they will make sure you get your full money before handing over your car.

or

you can sell straight away to the dealer for 17k. but the risk is collecting the money. You should make sure you can collect the full sum before handing over the ownership.

Are u sure they or maybe your company charge $250 only for the service. :a-fun:

Facts are, a right offer comes along, they will cut the price offered to the seller and adding on buyer request to fix this and that. After weighing in what they can earn from the buyer, will they decide to close the deal. Consignment agents got nothing to lose, car depreciate on the expense of the seller ! Unlike used car dealer, they sell even at a loss if the offer is good enough.

Look at all the consignment agents advertising, it's hard to believe they have more than 100-200 unit of vehicles. Much have been sold and some may have taken back by seller, nobody knows.

My own opinion.

I don't have a company. In any case, thats what the Carro rep told me that the seller will be paying them....

I was the buyer and I paid $250, so that is fact

I don't know why you can say the dealer will sell even at a loss..... how can the dealer able to sell at a loss?? if the dealer only pay paper value and depre's are 10-20k/year in the market?

If buy at paper value and still can make loss then the dealer don't deserve to wear Rolex King and stay bungalow, "Pa Si Kuan Sai" ho liao, and don't waste any more air.
