Hi am new to this used car thread. Would like to ask, I was browsing sg car mart used car and I saw some posting of used car registered only early this year, with mileage ranging of 8Km to 80+km.

Can someone enlighten me how is it possible for 1 owner to use so little mileage (esp like 8km)? Or could it be the owner is actually the PI or dealer who registered it and then trying to sell off now? But why would they registered it before having anyone buying it? I m really puzzled and wonder is there any "hidden" reason. Hope can get some info n knowledge here.

I m shopping between getting a new car vs a relatively new used car. So if those  is really as good as a brand new car as advertised, I am thinking to explore further into this option. TIA.

those mileage is 8km ones are usually registered by PI. reason being that COE can only valid up to 3 months and it must be registered within this 3 months. So this answers your question.

not sure too...but some advice if u want a cheap 'new' car; buy a management unit from AD, usually the price difference is huge. e.g: Volvo XC90 9mth old: 235k, new: 280k. u will save a lot. these cars are basically leased out for a year, then after that they sell as used, and they cannot exceed a certain mileage.

Oh this is something new I just hear of. Mgt unit are they driven by their own Mgt staff? Or lease out to anyone for a year before they sell? If it was under lease previously it would have been registered under AD and consider as 1 owner? I buy over will be 2nd owner?

BTW , which "department" should I look for? The AD pre-owned unit or just walk in new car showroom and tell them I looking for mgt unit?

LOL. I see.

Eh but even those listed under agent pre owned, not all 100% will be management or lease unit right? Possible some individual party sold the car to them as pre owned instead of dealer too?

yup, pre-owned certified not the same as mgmt units. u need to search quite hard. alternatively just call up the company and ask if they have mgmt units for sale. i opened sgcarmart app and first ad was renault sale, mgmt unit and new unit for 89k 😂

Hi all,

Anyone knows for consignment fees, which are supposingly paid by seller, applicable for buyer to pay as well?  Went to a dealer at Kaki Bukit and they wanted to charge me SGD800 for buying their consignment car.

Fee is usually payable by seller, not buyer.  But this is not hard coded and dealers make their rules along the way.  My advice is to walk away. Now is buyers market - plenty of choices and prices will fall in the next 2 months given the dismay economic situation.

Its paid by seller

$800 or 1% of sale price

The price buyer is paying may not be the same as what seller is selling

Depends on individual dealer's practice because buyer wont get to see the actual price transaction between agent and seller and vice versa

Gentlemen n ladies...

The events here really truely boils my blood when I read them, but frankly, there are tons of msges and many pages, very likely some black sheep dealer will be hidden and not be observed.

Any link to a single table where we could list down the these blacklist of 2nd hand car dealers? one look we know who we should avoid and why.

This company I just bought from, Empire Luxury. This is a irresponsible car dealer with bad post-sales service!
