Isn't it harder fr heat to disperse ?

The common design is for the air flow from front pass the engine and go below under carriage.

Insulation is to prevent engine heat reaching the hood, and damage the paint in long run, unless dedicated vent(s) is there to allow air flow to escape from the hood side; such as those on sports car where heat generated are immense. Some very old cars allow hot air to escape up the firewall and by the windscreen, causing heat marks, it got to do with the now concept, and even car aerodynamics & fuel consumption.
