Brakes specialist?

Not looking for upgrade, but looking for another brake specialist to fix my brake issues. Whenever I brake after travelling for some distance, there will be a' 'tuck' sound. Already changed 3 sets of brake pads this year, 2 at the 1st workshop that caused this issue, and the other at a so called specialist. According the the brake specialist workshop, the sound is caused by the metal piece (dunno what is call) that hold the brake pads, went back to them twice and everything will be nice and quite for a week, after that it will come back. Wanted to give up and replace the car already.

Could be something come in contact with the backing plate or splash shield or splash guard. Ask workshop or tyre shop to push the plate backward when wheels are off

don't think anything to do with the splash shield or guard, if not the specialist will have fix that. Will take note of that though and see if can ask the workshop to look at that during my next servicing

Is it coming from the front or rear? If rear is it disc or drum?

Is it a consistent thumping noise while braking?

Did you only change brake pads?

Did any of the mechanic sit with you or drive your car to experience the noise?

Or did you only approach them and told them to change brake pads?

Brake pads dont make noise but the brake disc usually is the one making all kinds of noise.

It really depends on how you talk to ppl and get them to understand. If you cant then you have to let them drive your car to know what you are saying.

To be honest from your description here you basically cant tell ppl much. You got to work on it. You got to tell ppl in which direction you heard it from when you are braking. And knowing how to replicate it when the mechanic is sitting with you.

according to the specialist, it is the front right, but sound seems to come from the back. Not consistent, from cold start early morning going to work don't have, reach workplace carpark in the morning abit, sound more prominent in the evening going back. 1st workshop did disc skimming because of screeching sound early morning when move off, changed new brake pads, screeching sound became worse, brake everytime got screeching sound, went back reskimmed and changed to a so called 'better' and more 'expensive' brake pads, then the tuck sound came, but only when the moment I released the brake. Went to the specialist, managed to fix, but sound returned after 1 week, returned and changed to a so called 'correct' brake pads, sound returned after 1 week, but this time is step brake already got the sound, not when release. Returned again to fix, sounds came back after 1 day. No point going back again as the fix is only temporary, wasting time and the workshop always busy everytime i went.

yes the mechanic sat with me to hear the sound, the 3rd time I went he told me is the brake pads holder become 'loose' or something like that after driving for sometime, so after fixing no sound for a while, then if drive for sometime the sound will come back, seem like no permanent fix. He also told me nothing to do with the skimming when I mentioned I did at the earlier workshop.

So what did he do? Add shims to the pads? Shims are thin slices of metal to make the brake pad fit snugly onto its position.

Or did they forgot to put it back in the first place?

Such a bad workshop.
