such old cars will need lots of $$$ for repairs. u think worth it or not?

First is to take car to STA or VICOM workshop for inspection before signing...

Best is to check undercarriage for holes, corrosion and large dents...espeically near the exhaust area...also cracks...

Next open up engine bay and check the pipes for any corrosion, fluid colour should be standard...example, coolant should not be dark brown...

Next drive and listen for any abnormal noises like clattering esp from the transmission, engine bay and tyres....

If all is fine then its more or less safe la.....

My neighbour drive abt 7 yr old altis drive like taxi. Mileage close to 300k km still no prob n look damm new even.

The engine n autobox still made in japan. Very durable. Just good regular maintenance.

Which is why you always hear people say, you never go wrong buying a toyota. :D

I had a corona cd auto b4. Bought at 10yrs n sold at 19yrs. One of e best n most reliable cars

i had. Work it hard n still it never complained. Hardly ever breakdown in 9 yrs i had it. Just

normal maintenance n change wear n tear parts.

Cheap n easy to maintain. I still regret i sold it. I think i cud hv driven it till its 30yrs also

no problem.

But now my Optra auto also like that. Damm solid n reliable. I just might renew e coe when e time comes.

I had it abt 5 yrs n so far it has not let me down yet.

How about 2nd hand Chevrolet Aveo? I heard maintaineance n parts not cheap, but petrol consumption still ok.

I drive a 7year old optra estate auto. Regular maintenance n replace original spare parts not expensive if u get parts fm authorised stockist or oem parts even cheaper.

I get outside ws to do all work n just pay normal labour charges only.

Similar to jap b&b car. My fc abt 13-14km/lit which is quite good also.

Very strong n reliable car.

And the next question after the budget released...Can you pay 50% downpayment now?

I am happy wh this cos it sud bring coe price down n make cars affordable again.

I wanted to pay cash in full fr my 2nd hand optra last time but dealer put a penalty fr cash n no loan cos ty make a comission

on e loan. I calculate i end up pay e same fr loan n no loan so might as well take loan but DP i put abt 40% so i loan less n pay less interest.

50% DP is quite ok wh me. Maybe now i can pay cash in full without a penalty n save some money in interest payments. End up i pay less in total.

May I know where is the workshop u go that allow u to pay labour charges only? I might be buying the 2nd hand Aveo, so this might come handy for me in future. Thanks in advance [drivingcar]

Search keng wah motor here. Its in yishun indl pk.a. But i never go there a couple of yrs already.

Now i do in jb.

Many ws wil allow u to supply yr own parts if u show u very fussy n prefer original parts at 1st.

Most use cheaper parts fm a spareparts shop nearby. I reject cos i say i only use good quality original parts.

Im still checking them out n cannot guarantee ty r really good. Ive had an issue abt tires fm them.

Only if i know ty can do a good job n r honest wil i recommend.
