Horse meat found in Beef

The news has been going around for quite a few weeks, looks like quite a few countries are affected.

Literally, hanging cow's head but sell horse meat.

Horse meat is still better then beef anytime. Mad Cow ring a bell, fake grass fed beef also?

I heard horse is categorized under "pet" and should not be eaten.

isn't horse meat is much more expensive than beef

why would someone want to sell horse meat as beef

unless the horse got problem or the horse is collateral damage from horse stable close shop?

Not sure about Singapore, but a quick search shows that horse meat might be forbidden in some religions.

Heard of deer's meat being served in neighborhood Tze Char stall, and it is legal.

 

Never heard of horse burger in fast food restaurant.

Horse meat is like "game"/"exquiste" meat aka wild boar meat in Singapore. So, should command a premium. Hence, nobody comprain here.

I thought so too. But researched and found that horse meat is cheaper than beef.

Horse meat is popular in France.

 

Perhaps it taste like beef and is cheaper to produce, so someone try to make more money.
