@Fcw75 if you pump based on $ amount e.g $50. the increase doesn’t really affect you since you only get less fuel but spend the same amount. Hence you can cap your fuel spending by pumping your desired amount.

With the same logic, there will not be any inflation! Just spend the same amount of money on your purchases regardless of any price increase!

If the aim is to reduce vehicle usage, then the pain levels for any kind of vehicle will be turned up, EVs included.
