I think need a few months before we can see if the new measures will lower COE. The ADs still got alot of backlog right? Those who signed before the new rules.

so ... the lowest bid set the price is a FLAW

you bid $100k, you pay $100k

Yep, i have always said that this was a big flaw cos it makes AD bid "irresponsibly". But on the other hand quite hard for them to bid for, say, 200 COEs one by one.

what so difficult? they still need to punch in 200 bids what

just that they punch in $100K but pay lesser when the lowest bid is $90K

punching 200 bids $100K now and punching 200 bids $90K (pay as you bid)

same effort what ...

if they need to bid individually, let say 7-series (must get), 5-series (probably get), 3-series (try to get)

still punch in 200 bids only ... nothing too difficult

the problem now is when there is no smaller AD that bid low to come to rescue

the coe is push higher and higher as bmw/merc/audi all got bandwidth to bid coe higher and higher as long as got people to buy car.

I'm just wondering how come there are ppl buying cars every month. Shouldn't it come to a point where all the ppl who would buy a car would already have one?

ADs are not just bidding high to manipulate the market, they are bidding high because their sales volumn forecast is still a growth with rising COEs. with CM, they will have to redo their forecast, if high COEs kept buyers away which eventually will lower their revenue, they will start to lower COE bidding price, thats what happened in 09, coz no one is buying and they need to sell. u see the new packages offered by different ADs with 30k COE package, you already know they forecast a drop in sales volumn and are taking pre-emptive measures already.

Also based on the CMs in property market, this gahmen wont stop unless its goals are met, in this case if ADs try to fight the trend, they will only expect more CMs and bigger hits, so honestly i really want to see COE remain high for a couple of bids, wait for more CMs then market crash. 1 dollar COE will come!

next CM: full cash for COE, 70% loan for rest. 5 years. Which AD offers lower COE package will get more customers. thats when competition starts!

More ideas means more ways for government to earn money. The OMV idea for COE was not used but used as a tax on OMV. In the end, everyone lose out.

Most ADs have open Cat on reserve... they cant possibly let it drop these few months as it will affect the value of their stock-holding and also selling price. So those who are hoping for a drastic drop, plse wait -_-

Open Cat only 177 bids with less than 4 hours left. Am going to bid Open Cat now. Could get a cheap COE (below $1k)and sell easily at a profit.

Many AD are hoarding COE, knowing that the number will drop from March. and hoping to sell for higher profit. MAS has sprang a surprise and it is quite panicky for them now. They will lose some money if they do not use up what the are holding soon. You can be sure these guys will stay out this round.

Nope, if they bid one by one by small quantums so at first say they put $1,000. So they got to key in 200 times of $1,000. Then after outbid, try $10,000. So key in another 200 times, then again at $30,000, $40,000, etc etc....so in the end at least 1,000 times. Then during the dying minutes, how to key in 200 times? They will need at least, say 40 people to key in, each one take 5 buyers.
