from pics, i see that there are two boxes on each end of a pipe. one box is near the headlight and the other connects to the engine - i need the whole set.

or any regular w/s that i can check with ? any idea how much $$ i'll be looking at ?

Hi there,

Anyone have experienced in replacing from stock to coilover sub or lower the suspension system for 2005 forester 2.0XT? Apparently I'm with stock shock absorber but found slight oil leaks for all, since tyre and rim have replaced to 225x45x18 though of lowering the height any recommandation out there? Apparently don't seem to enjoy much for the drive not too sure partly caused by the suspension sys. Greatly appreciated in advice. Cheers!

Rgds,

Tommy

look deeper below in between the air filter and engine. See if got lots of grease.

If yes then your driver drive shaft boot is torn and lao sai all over. The grease might be on your exhaust thus producing the smoke and foul smell.

I got my boot replaced today. This one thing most neglect till it lao sai.

Think u r spot on jun!

U referring to below air filter

Ard centre area

The cone shape cover covering the drive shaft rite

Yup it's all stained n surrounding all stain

And exhaust got few stain drips

Tks bro u r spot on

I see Le sun got stock anot I let u know how much I spend tdy

Thanks for the info's bro.

What do you reckon to replace adjustable coilover brand like BC (Fong Kim) or Silver's (Mcwell Ventures) as current it was air sub for rear? Overall any side effect will caused for road holding i.e. stiff; bumpy etc?

Anyone one out there replaced coilcover with similar vehicle pls share your comments and feedback. Thanks.

Bro I think the stockist name should be LESUN at ubi, give them a call before going down.

YSC bro are you looking at the air duct connecting to the filter box?

anyway I tried to get the stock suspensions but its not worth it, was quoted $4k plus by MI, outside easily about 3k plus too.

best to get coilovers to replace it if it really need to be replaced. Coilovers entry levels I think roughly about 1.5k around there. My D2 now also got problem and cannot be serviced anymore.

Apparently "Silver's" coilover market at $1380 from Mcwell Ventures with 12mths+another 6 mths warranty and one free adjustment. How's ur D2 sub performance so far and on what vehicle bro?

hi I used to drive a 04 forester xt. I've tried stock susp, jdm wrx susp (inverted shocks, too freaking low for daily use), forester sti susp (inverted shocks), and coilovers

for daily drive here, best is stock (comfort) and the forester sti (but a bit harsh)

for track, best is coilovers (properly set up)

u can get KYB struts fm stockist to replace the current ones, but u lose the self-adjusting height feature. Very cheap though. I don't recall the exact price. Perhaps $100+ per corner. Then factor in labour to swap the springs (fm old set) and install + labour. Or, if u can find lowering springs, it will be good too.

coilovers will be lower and will lose comfort. Great handling though. There's a guy selling used BC ER for $1.4k. Pm me if u want the contact.

Handling wise not bad...but alittle to hard for comfort. got it when I bought the car in Jan. now looking at changing something more comfort coz passengers always complain.

hows the "silver" coils performing? wanna try something new for comfy level.

One side Boot plus labour $90.

Another $30 to get my mech to takeout and clean the exhaust and all the grease at the lower engine area.

I changed the passenger side too coz can see the boot is wet due to grease seeping. Better change before it tears too.

Anyway since the drive shaft is taken out, I suggest to go for wheel alignment after that.

I got a quote for a side at 60 with boot plus labour

Now sitting here at sin ming waiting for my turn

Tks bro

Wow thats cheap. Did your mech replace himself or send to a drive shaft specialist? Coz mine I follow my mech to the drive shaft specialist for the repair.
