I am thinking abt going for the above. However, I am having concern on it's parts availability and reliability.

Anyone with experience can share info on this?

By the way, what is the difference between the pre facelift and facelift one apart from asthetically different?

Neutral Newbie

There are a few Saab specialists out there who have access to parts. Though don't expect it to be as widely available as other common makes.

I recall reading the Saab spares/parts company is back in business in Sweden. And there's talks about Saab 9-3 resurrecting too but it isn't confirmed. Likely as an EV first.

I had one until quite recently. Loved it while I had it. Only changed it cos I needed something bigger.

Parts should not be a problem between Eurokars, Saab stockists and specialist workshops like Griffin and AKH. But if it's a rare part, you will probably need to wait a bit. No big deal really. Even my Merc and VAG car parts sometimes need a little waiting time.

Twincharged

I used to drive an Rover 75,which went bust, yes, the Agent TranEurokars can get for you the parts, but all flown in by U.P.S.,the price of common items became very expensive, imagine 1 A/C filter costs $400.00 Inc Labour...

thanks guys for the heads up on the parts.

but wat abt the reliability part?

chickenbackside: will the top gets jammed? imagine sudden weather change and gonna pour soon then ur top gets jammed. then u gotta join the motorcycle folks under the bridge for shelter. lol

so wats the diff between the old one and the newer one? power? features? the price differs quite alot between the 2 being the newer one having a higher depre.

Never jammed on me. In any case, there is a hydraulic pump bypass in the boot. You can disengage the pump and put up the top manually. Of course, if you're not familiar with the steps, you'll get pretty wet trying to figure it out while reading the manual.

Mechanically, no change between pre and post facelift. Only cosmetic changes.

I've said this before, it's one of the most reliable cars I've owned. Hardly anything went wrong with it. A window regulator was the biggest thing that went kaput. Other than that, just oil, filter, brake pad, disc and tyre changes.

But do near in mind that it is rather dated to drive. You know you're in a car that was designed a long time ago. But the fun factor makes up for it, especially the fact that you can raise or lower the top on the move.

Check the condition of your key. The rubber key tends to "melt" badly.

A very simple thing you can do is listen and watch the top as it goes up and down.

Just make sure there are no groaning or funny noises in the process and that the operation is relatively quick and smooth.

If it is sluggish and you hear groaning noises, get the dealer to fix it first or bargain down and fix it yourself (will probably be a $1k+) job.
