folks, my bro is looking to buy a used c200k, probably 07 or 08 model. Most of them have mileage around the century mark. he is fine with the mileage, but worried cost of major servicing, in particular for cars that either hit 100k or 110k, or after x number of years.. any benz drivers can offer when is a c class is due for major servicing and how much roughly? Cant advise him as i have not owned benz makes before.. thanks.

c200 is quite reliable car ...

after about 5 years, major servicing would probably includes engine mounting change ( ~$500 ), Brake pad and Brake Disc ( ~$2K for all 4 wheels as mine is perforated disc ), timing belt change ( couple hundred ? ) , some oil leaks ( ~$500 ), tyre change ( $1K - $2K )

Bro, I used to drive the C200 for 5 years and after warranty I went to this shop in Sin Ming Autocare - Carewell. They specialise in MB cars and charge reasonable. Major servicing at 5th year mark was roughly around $4k, which I did many things, including oil leak, mounting, brakes discs etc. Check with them direct...

Was the major servicing done by 5th year mark or by mileage? Care to share what would be the mileage mark for major servicing? Thanks again.

He was also looking at the e200 (w211) at about the same range. I heard that the e-class engine is more reliable than that of c. Perhaps just a hearsay...

Lubrication

Assyst Plus Service A - every 1 year / 15,000km intervals, whichever comes first

Maintenance

Assyst Plus Service B - every 2 years / 30,000km intervals, whichever comes first

Full Maintenance

Assyst Plus Service B+ - every 3 years / 60,000km intervals, whichever comes first

Severe Conditions - every 3 months / 5000km intervals, whichever comes first

so.. you calculate from your mileage and match it.

anyway, in doubts, check your manual to confirm.. else go cnc and grab a service brochure. its detailed there.

I recall my mileage was over 90k, but I service right after the inspection, and also I noticed oil leaks and slight rumbling sound (mounting). So one fine day drove down and got it done. Bascially I serviced the car ahead of schedule.

You drive the car daily, you will feel and notice the signs of servicing beckoning. Talking to trustworthy professionals does help.

Sorry, dig out this old thread.

I am also considering used MB between C200k or C180 CGI (5 speed). Which will be better, value for money? Is the C180 CGI be underpowered since sharing similar body?
