At the backside part lor. :D

Oh.... No wonder passport queues move so slowly. The passport officers holding their breadth can't work fast.

The present international practice of having a booklet as passport is a hassle to carry around. Carrying it in one's pocket also has it's risk of being stolen or lost.

Some countries no longer chop passport. All info are captured in the system. So just a credit card size card as passport is workable? Why cannot?

good idea ... but not that many countries that advanced to accept such a passport.

Rephrase the question. What is preventing immigration authorities from adopting a card instead of booklet form. As mentioned some countries no longer chop passport. They just scan the passport. If I remember correctly South Korea does not chop passport.

hong kong also don't chop.

If some countries can do away with chopping passport more countries may jump on. Then the idea of doing away with booklet format passport may be a reality. Something like cashless payment. Governments are noting the success of such systems in China and are taking small steps to catch up.

Same thing for air travel. In the old days air ticket was in booklet form and many pages. Nowadays don't even need to show air ticket. Just the passport is enough.
