HONG KONG - Hong Kong gongfu master and filmmaker Lau Kar Leung, who rose from being a stuntman to action choreographer and maker of swordflicks such as 1978's The 36th Chamber Of Shaolin, died on Tuesday, aged 76.

He died at a Hong Kong hospital from respiratory failure due to pneumonia, his doctor said at a press conference attended by his friend, actor-producer Natalis Chan, reported The Hong Kong Standard.

Lau was diagnosed with lymphomatic cancer in 1994 and needed blood transfusions since 2011 because of bone marrow problems, reported Apple Daily.

His second wife, Mary Jean Reimer, and their two daughters were with him when he died. Next to him were two stalks of white roses, which he wanted on his deathbed, said his actor-director brother Lau Kar Wing.

All these Kung Fu masters or credible actors pass on one by one ...

Sad that no up and coming actors can replace them.

Bro Jman888,

Sad to hear your next-of-kin 2 cases, Lymphoma is those fatty oil swells growth beneath the skin right ?

Every 6 months family GP send my blood check at below for :

HDL Cholesterol 高脂蛋白(好)胆固醇

LDL Cholesterol 低脂蛋白(坏)胆固醇

Cholesterol / HDL Ratio 胆固醇与高脂蛋白比率

Triglycerides 三酸甘油脂

Glucose 葡萄糖

Urea 尿素

Creatinine 肝酸酐

I believe the above regular checkings is still not comprehensive and safe enough, what to add on for the blood test next time ?

Abit of worrying and would need your kind advise, thanks in advance.

Regards.

HK movies with a high quality standard that can entertain belongs to a bygone era.

Don't think the current HK movie scene can go back to its haydays.
