$500 is consider normal.

 

Got one in Ubi AML asking my in-law for $1k admin, just for selling the car to them.

 

Used-car industrial is getting out-of-hand, dealer can anyhow quote because there isn't any market policies/guideline.

 

When I bought my used car, after agreeing on price, the dealer asked for $500 admin fee.

 

I said I am backing out of the deal since I had not signed on the dotted line if there’s an admin fee. He reduced the sum to $300. I stood firm and he waived the admin fee.

 

So don’t be desperate to commit to the deal, and if everyone remains firm in not endorsing this ridiculous admin fee, it will not even exist.

Recently bought this from A Car Pte Ltd.

Sales guy told me up front no admin charges or extra fees for no loan and I can take more own insurances.

 

He allowed me to go to my own workshop for inspection and repair the car properly from his workshop. When I went down to the workshop, I was surprised to see them cleaning the air con system with their machine at no extra charges.

 

The manger also told me what they have done to repair the car. Mind you they have to take out the engine to replace the seal that was leaking and I was told they have to replace a few other seals too. 

 

Within 24 hours after collection, the car was transferred to me as promised. The whole process was pleasant, transparent and honest. Good job to Derek and his manager.

The car ownership in Singapore is a big mess, buyers and sellers will be taken advantage if we are not careful. 

 

No where in the world can we find used cars sometimes more expensive than new ones.

No where in the world where dealers bid for a car at a price lower than its scrap value, just look at Quotz. There are $500 bids for cars with paper value in thousands. Dealers think car owners are stupid or what.
