I would say this stall price is quite good already. Some stalls are still trying to sell above $20...F them.

There are more than one stall there outside LYP? Can share the name ?

Should buy in bulk and ask for discount. [laugh]

report from Raub/Bentong. I was there earlier this week.

My usual row of durian stores in Raub were mostly closed when I reached at 3pm. Very strange. Only 1 store was open. You can see it at the right hand side of the pic. Another 5 stalls on the left all kosong.

Normal MSW at Rm38/Kg all sold out. Tekka Rm25/kg.

Hilltop (brown husk) MSW at an eye-popping Rm58/kg.

tried one (1.2kg) and honestly not impressed by the taste as I had better ones before, during the peak season. Still felt a bit high after finishing it.

Raub seller said not much harvest these few days.

Went to Bentong morning mkt the next day at 9am. Durian seller just arrived and setting up. Only one stall. No signs of activity at the other stalls. This is their stock for the day.

They also said harvest was small. They had MSW (Rm35/kg) and tekka (Rm25/kg) as well as D24 (didn't ask price).

I dabao two MSW (3.8kg) back to KL. Taste good. Satisfied.

btw my usual stall in USJ/KL also didn't have much stock. They were selling MSW durian at Rm55/kg over the weekend. The surrounding stalls weren't opened.

I was surprised Bentong/Raub were not overflowing with excess durian supply as a recent news report had alluded to. Feel cheated [:|]

LYP is a very small commercial area. The stall is just outside Giant Supermarket. You won't miss it!

Going by the bro above observation not much durians and the prices in Singapore didn't go down much, I am wondering if the malaysian MSW exporters are nitrogen freezing their current batch of MSW and store it till the end on the COnvid19 epidemic? So they can ship them out during the non peak season?  As nitrogen freezed durians won't deteriorate much over a long time.

I doubt they have the spare capacity to store that many flash frozen durians at the required conditions. The buyers also probably have some T&C regarding the "freshness" of the frozen durian when received. It would be more acceptable for frozen pulp, not whole durian.

unfortunately this time I didn't have the time to go look see at the one farm/seller/exporter I know that has Nitrogen freezing facilities on site as they are quite a distance outside Raub town. Would have been good to have a chat with them.

Durians - Black Gold's kiddo 😅😂 at $13/kg (4 fruits at 3.8kg $48).

Went after dinner to eat these at LYP.20200215_214553.thumb.jpg.4e1581e0a53b21e466e35cab5c40cf08.jpg

Really bitter and nice.
