Ok.

This has officially become a math question. Lol

Say cost of parts = base = 100%

So overheads = another 100%

And profits = another 100% too!!

So is it 1/3 or 100% wo?

Teacher, my maths fail. [:/] I don't get it. Can explain more simpler?? [grin]

usually it happens randomly after i start my car with message "EBD is deactivated" / Handbrake light is on / air-con will not work.

turn on the air-con still and just continue driving until you feel the cold air start to come through the vents again.

when you reach the lights, restart the engine and it should be gone... (in my experience it usually takes 10 - 15 mins for it to go back to normal)

Anyone with a VDO screen problem?

haha

sounds like a true alfa!!!

like my "check front lights" can be "fixed" by turning off VDC

ok

lemme make it more simpler (sic) for u

u have 1 apple

i have 3

I have 3 times as many (not more mind u) apples as u

that's 300%

u have 1/3 the number of apples i have

that's... 1/3 or 33.3333333333333333333333333333333333333333%

so case in pt

we spend 1/3 the of the quote from WS when we DIY

but WS is making 300% - 100% (parts) - 100% (overheads) = 100% profit

so really depends on whose perspective we are taking ba

Teacher, I only can follow you up to the part you mention apples. After that I am lost again. But never mind. All this thinking makes me hungry. I think I am going to have an apple. Anyway yoou are very good Teacher [:)] just in case no one tells you yet [thumbsup]

Anyone with a VDO screen problem?

This is exactly the same problem and solution I used for the last 2 weeks until it got worst.

There was 1 time I restarted once and twice but signal remains/air-con was hot....passenger grouchy

No choice but to fix it.

The fix was the replace the vacuum hose/kit/valve set - 6xx (include labour)

Which model is this? 3.2 or 2.2?

Low fue gauge, not sure, but mine was flashing 0 when my MAF died. the ground for fuel tank gauge is routed through MAF.

Gear Slipping... your torque converter is going (3.2 V6) or solenoid.

Window not working... normal la...

Grinding metal sound, check your brake pads, and body alignment,

loose metal sound...where?

Lambda Sensor not working, you played with your exhaust?

Slowly fixing up the problems 1 at a time

For gear slipping, still trying to fix up an additional oil/atf coolant unit. 1st workshop says no experience with Alfa. Now waiting for another workshop to quote and confirm. The 3.2 is generating a lot (a lot !!) of heat. Going to find ways to reduce it. Peter suggest removing the undercarriage cover also

For metal grinding, going to try to check and replace the wheelbearings, this going to be a big ticket items ($500 per replacement)

your problem happens often? mine comes on maybe once every month?

i totally feel you with the passenger grouchy... when that passenger grouchy, passenger will start snarling at bella... (then i will go don't always say her la)

that is an expensive fix! ouch.

more importantly is fixed i guess

mine i went to tomika

they "helped" me with the lowest cost option without consulting me

(i was hoping to change out the compressor)

ended up with 2xx bill but within the month intermitten again

went back under warranty but no parts

left for family holiday

come back too late liao

not to mention the inertia of going back to WS again....

$500 per wheel bearing is cheaper than $1.4K EA quoted to me before. Ha Ha.

Wheel bearing worn can be identified when car is jacked up on the hoist. Mechanic will rotate wheel and check for any excessive free play. You can pre check the price of wheel bearing online or even with local stockist and decide which way to go after the check.

The undercarriage cover actually serves a few function. For the 2.2 it directs air from front of the engine bay to rear where the exhaust manifolds are to extract heat there. For the 3.2 not sure if it serves the same. Need to take note.

Your automatic gearbox is Aisin, not Alfa generic. So that info may help when you approach the workshop. I have experience some workshops are quite afraid when they see Alfa so have to do abit of homework to help them carry out the repair.

I got it fix up within a day. Goosh I tot EA will indent and honor it as you reported it during your warranty period?

Peter explain that the undertray serves more like a sound insulation purpose, it is constructed out of fibre glass, he mention that he himself remove all the undertrays of all the cars he himself drove ...lol

Last time I went to one of the two famous ones at sin ming as well... the guy had no idea what was wrong and could only guess at the problem. I decided not to proceed with his guesswork.
