Shull Turbocharged October 23, 2013 Share October 23, 2013 Not surprised the hydraulics are able to lift it's own weight, in fact, i think it's designed to lift double or triple it's own weight. I'm more interested in how much friction is there between the inclined surface of the tower and the caterpillar track.

Typical Hydraulic Pistons are tested to 2x the working pressure, while hydraulic hoses are tested to 2.5x to 3x the working pressure. And from what i see, the excavator probably has the counterweight taken out to reduce the weight.
Heelntoe 1st Gear October 24, 2013 Share October 24, 2013 I feel that The whole display is to showcase the precision control of the operator rather than how good the machine is.. The demo is also to showcase the precision of the excavator's hydraulic controls. No matter how good the operator is, it won't help if there's a lot of delay and inconsistencies in the hydraulic hardware
