My car has a juddering sound when turning and accelerating at low speed.

The sound come from the front wheels I think.

It only happens when turning and accelerating, no sound if the accelerater is not pressed.

What could be the problem?

Hi there,

I just changed all 4 shocks and tires and front lower arms. The car handling is better now and I can feel the difference that the shocks make. However, is it normal that the ride feels quite harsh? Meaning I can feel those little bumps on the road and sometimes it is bouncy. Am I too used to the old shocks that the ride now feels jarring? Changed all 4 tyres as well, so I don't think it could be a balancing issue right? Or is cuz my tyre pressure is high? Its at 220 now. Tire is 185/70/R14 and I bought all stock parts.

My nissan sunny will be scraped by end of Jul next year and I have done 268k mileage. My car has all along been serviced by TCM until 250k mileage.

Since end of May (mileage near 260k), my car refused to move after engaging gear D. Initially, the car would sometimes jerked when just moving off. Later on, I have to wait some minutes before the car move. As days go by, the wait gets longer and longer and sometimes there is some grinding or whistling just after moving off.

Yesterday was the worse. In the morning I waited 9 min before the car moved. In the evening after work, I again waited 9 min before the car moved. After more than 2 hours, I went out after dinner, I waited 9 min again for the car to move.

All the while, if I don't want to wait for the car to move, I simply engage the lowest gear and the car moves as though there is no problem. After a short distance of about 10m to 30m, I will switch to gear D and every thing is fine. Reverse gear no problem. ATF also no problem. Only gear D and the gear after got problem. If I park for an hour or two, there is no problem moving off when gear is engaged.

I have been advised to replace the GB. May be better to change to new car as I am advised to weld my car exhaust pipe due to rust and may be the dampers which I feel is not necessary and the radiator top cover (changed once before at around 240k mileage) that appears to be leaking and no more coolent, though I don't need to top up water since servicing at 260k mileage. I may also consider to extend my COE as the car has been problem free relatively until now. Air-con motor was replaced at last servicing.

But what exactly is the explanation for such behaviour and why the wait for it to move and how long can it go on before it die completely? Any cheaper solution than changing GB.

Hi Sir,

do give your new Absorber some time to be run in and it will be better after a while when the dampers sipped in. However if you feel that it still too bumpy, go back to the workshop which install your shocks absorber and feedback to them. They might do a check or help you to adjust.

If they can't help you, drive in to DM and we will be there to help you with a Free Check

Dear Sir,

My 4 months old Toyota Camry 2.5 liters (Auto) has an auto-lock mechanism problem.

I sent my vehicle for rectification with the agent.  The engineer confirmed that there was a fault at first and did a diagnosis for half a day. He confirmed that the problem was what I have mentioned but I was told the problem was rectified.  It's was not solved at all.

As I understand it, the steps on how the auto lock can be activated are as follows:

1. With engine off while seating inside the vehicle, press key to "lock" and then press key to "unlock".

2. Wait for about 30 seconds and vehicle will auto lock by itself with engine off and key still inside.

I send car for further rectification for 4 days but this time, they claimed that it is not a defect of the vehicle but its safety feature.  I am beginning to form some doubt about their claim.

Please advice.

Yours sincerely,

Philip Wee

dear DM

I just own a Mazda CX-7 2007, after 1 week my wife and collegue notices a squealing sound when I drive at low speed. They say it sound like metal rubbing sound, my wife say it sound like a mouse squeaking sound..like some thing hitting the wheel when rotating, the sound change in frequency according to the wheel rotating. slower speed more audible, higher speed cannot hear.  sorry all these I mention my collegue and wife , because I cannot hear it that clearly from inside the car, it seem like loud enough from outside as they can hear it from 5m away.

went to my regular ws, they say could be center shaft bearing, wheel drake, hand brake jam etc or wheel bearing etc.. I did not let them do as they seem like cannot pin point the exact fault, as i dont want to lt them try and see with my pocket.

hence I would like to seek your advise,

do I need to make appointment before coming down?

Hi,

I drive a Toyota Previa 2008 and current facing a intermittent keyless sensor problem.

Having problem locking the car when using the door button or opening the door placing my hand at the handle when the keyless sensor is in my pocket. Most of the time I will need to bring the key very near the door to have the sensor activating the door locking or unlocking. Some time it even refuse to work. Have to wave the keyless sensor and try again to activate. Worst situation was to lock using the keyless button. Lucky it works but at time it doesn't.

Have change battery, yet still facing problems with the sensor. If place slightly away, it gives me signal when I am driving as well.

Please advise if you have any ideal to the problems

Thanks
