Super7 Turbocharged January 28, 2014 Share January 28, 2014 (edited) I wrote to LTA regarding the poor, patchy resurfacing. After about 3 weeks, here's the reply (among others): " Bukit Batok East Avenue 3 SPPG is carrying out cable-installation work at this area since early December 2013, and would need time to test the cables after they have been laid. We target to complete these testing in September 2014 and then commence resurfacing work on the road. " A 300m cabling work that takes almost 1 year! Amazing! And even more amazing it will take 9 months to "test" the electrical cables. Any primary student will know cables are either close circuit, open circuit, or shorted.... within 30 minutes. Meanwhile thousands of motorists will have to suffer like drivers in India or Bolivia. Most amazing of all, LTA can accept a patchy stretch of road for such a long duration waiting for Power Grid's "test" results. No wonder the whole country's infrastructure is going downhill - no pride in their work, accepting third class performance. In Taiwan their road engineers have to clear land slides within a day or two. Imagine them saying "we will test the repair work for the next 9 months before opening the road".... It indeed the patch road surface and lengthy road works indicate a systemic problem in the organization. We motorists in sgp pay the highest road tax, and road use charges ie erp and the things called COE, ARF in the world. And this is what we get?!!! ---- patchy, bumpy roads and long delays in road diggings!!! Edited January 28, 2014 by Super7 ↡ Advertisement

I believe LTA couldnt bother on the poor condition of the road cos those people in LTA doesnt use that particular road at all. Their job is only sit at the office replying standard replies, and tell you 'nothing much' can be done except continue monitoring the situation and may take action when necessary. And this is what we get?!!! ---- patchy, bumpy roads and long delays in road diggings!!! Super 7, you hit the spot. It's not about complaining but after paying all these, the roads are getting worse. In reality, most roads are under works now. Hope authority can divert more funds to do a good patch.
Volvobrick Supersonic January 29, 2014 Share January 29, 2014 A 300m road work takes longer than conceiving a baby till it is born! And notice the reply that it is only a "target" assuming not further "tests" or delays.

I think sometimes road works is unavoidable, but i am more concern on the patching quality they have done after the road works. Seems like nowadays they just anyhow patch back the hole, and make the road so bumpy and uneven. Edited January 29, 2014 by 13177

Yes, from the day i started driving roadwork is a necessity and we have been living with the inconvenience it brings but the quality of the patch-ups was always acceptable, unlike what we see today. Has the current LTA inspectors been sleeping on the job and pass / accept such bad patch-ups? Note - LTA (or PS, Singtel, etc) pay the contractor to do the patch up after the diggings etc and has its own inspectors to inspect the patch ups before accepting/rejecting them. Could be the tolerant level for accepting the patching job has raised. Now even the road is bumpy, they think it is within their acceptable range. They trying to test your car's suspension or shock absorbers aka dampers. If suspension cannot tahan, then owner can go back to agent and bang table to claim warranty (that is if car is still under warranty).

Leo72 6th Gear February 2, 2014 Share February 2, 2014 Actually standard comfort tyres are good enough for low speed, stop-go traffic in SGP also. actually comfort tyres also not good enough if the road patch up is more like a mini hump.
