Doing my part not to let MH370 be forgotten by upping this thread.

Queries were raised why the SOSUS hasn't been involved in the search operation. I watched a documentary recently that stated that when the system was first raised in the 50s, experiments were conducted where a series of precisely timed underwater explosions were set off in the waters off Perth Australia, and picked up on the East Coast of the United States, three hours later.

Keep in mind that this was in the 50s, on an experimental system with minimal listening stations, using more basic technology. Using today's technology, which has been optimized for super-quiet Russian subs, it would be quite unbelievable that the SOSUS didn't hear anything, especially since the suspected crash site is on the path of the sound waves for that experiment?

This report on 11 Sep 14, says a train in India is missing!

Lost for 14 days already.

http://m.indiatvnews.com/news/india/indian-passenger-train-goes-missing-in-bihar-breaking-news-41744.html

The world is still not out of the shock of missing Malaysian plane and here in India, a complete passenger train has gone missing… Yes! We are not joking.

An Indian passenger train running en-route Gorakhpur-Muzaffarpur has gone missing in Bihar.

If reports are to be believed, the Gorakhpur-Muzaffarpur passenger train went missing from Hajipur railway station in Bihar, where it was re-routed along with several others trains.

North Eastern Railway officials have confirmed the reports claiming that hunt is on for the missing train since 14 days.

According to officials, on the late night of August 25, a nine coach goods train overturned at Ghughli Bazar station on Gorakhpur-Narkatiaganj route, forcing all the trains running on that route being to divert onto a different route via Deoria, Chhapra and Varanasi.

The Gorakhpur-Muzaffarpur passenger train too was diverted on the same route; however this route too was shut down following failure at the railway interlocking system.

As the route had Hajipur railway station as a major stop, Gorakhpur-Muzaffarpur passenger train too was made to make a stop at Hajipur.

Four days after the incident, officials were shocked after they were informed that the Gorakhpur-Muzaffarpur passenger train had been missing since the day of the incident.

It has been 14 days now and the hunt is still on to locate the missing passenger train.

The news of missing train reminds us of a similar incident, which involved Malaysia Airlines Flight 370, that had gone missing and even after 6 months there are no clues leading to location of the missing flight.

PETALING JAYA: Rough weather is hampering the search and rescue (SAR) operation for Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) combat vessel CB204, which went missing Sunday.

RMN Chief Admiral Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Jaafar tweeted Monday that rough waters and low rain clouds were making the process more difficult.

"CB204. Till 0800, has not been found. KD Lekiu, KD Serang, KM Berani and KM Mabul continuing search,"he tweeted, referring to the vessels involved in the operation.

CB204, CB90-type of combat vessel, lost contact with its base at 11.15am while cruising to islands off Sabah waters.

The vessel's last known position was 20 nautical miles east of Mengalum Island off Sabah.

Commanded by Lt Azri Bakar with seven crew members, CB204 departed Kota Kinabalu at about 5am with another naval ship, KD Paus.

At 10.30am, the Marine Region Headquarters received a call from KD Paus informing that the two vessels were turning back due to bad weather

Don't worry, the Navy Combat Vessel is likely to be taking R&R somewhere under radar invisible mode.

Funny so many things in Malaysia seems to be disappearing, any chance Najib will disappear like Houdini too.

Lost and Found: Missing Malaysian Navy Ship Located

the Malaysian boat has been found, crew dazed and hungry, Navy chief praised them for surviving the storm.

http://www.maritime-executive.com/article/Lost-and-Found-Missing-Malaysian-Navy-Ship-Located-2014-10-06

One of the search and rescue (SAR) ships received a distress call from the missing ship roughly four hours before locating it; the gunboat reported engine malfunction and failed steering gear. The SAR vessels, KD Ganas and KD Lekiu, then proceeded to the location.

It is still unclear why the vessel could not be contacted for more than 13 hours since it went missing.

Two planes from the Royal Malaysian Air Force joined the SAR operations on Monday morning, along with six ships already out at sea. The rough weather had not allowed planes to be launched earlier, and briefly hampered the operations altogether.

The Malaysian combat boat went missing during a routine patrol off Borneo island in rough seas. Its last known position was some 20 nautical miles northeast of Pulau Mangalum, before losing contact with Sepanggar Navy base. Authorities believe the missing vessel may have lost contact with the base after being hit by strong waves.

Recent events have sparked concerns about the lack of security and vulnerability to attacks facing Malaysia’s military.

KUALA LUMPUR -- Malaysia Airlines is hiring Christoph Mueller of Ireland's Aer Lingus as the CEO to lead the ailing Malaysian carrier, which is undergoing a $1.9 billion turnaround plan.

Muller is an aviation expert, and has been CEO of Ireland's national carrier since September 2009. He was previously an executive aviation director of TUI Travel, a London-listed global travel company. He was also once the chief financial officer of DHL Worldwide, and worked for Daimler Benz Aerospace and Lufthansa AG.

Aer Lingus has been profitable since 2010, after two consecutive annual losses before Muller joined the company. "Under Christoph's strategic leadership, Aer Lingus has been transformed into a strong, consistently profitable airline with a clear strategic direction, a resilient business model as a value carrier and improved cost base," Aer Lingus Chairman Colm Barrington said in a press release in announcing Muller's resignation.

22/10/14

PERTH (Australia): Malaysia is optimistic over the search effort for the missing Malaysia Airlines (MAS) flight MH370, whose final resting place is believed to be in the remote Indian ocean, after it disappeared on March 8.

Malaysian Defence Minister Hishammuddin Hussein said he was 99.9 per cent confident with the search mission based on the latest cutting-edge equipment.

“I am 99.9 per cent optimistic in locating the missing aircraft but the ocean is huge.

“And it all depends on various factors including the condition of the sea,” he said when launching the Malaysian contracted vessel, Go Pheonix and sophisticated underwater search equipment called ProSAS towed side scan sonar, at Freemantle Port here, Wednesday.

At the same function, Petronas vice president for Malaysia Petroleum Management, Adif Zukifli said Petronas had provided USD 21 million (RM67 million) to fund the cost for the vessel, completed with crew members and the underwater search equipment.

“The funds will go to the lease of the search equipment for the duration of six months until Feb 2015,” he said.

"Want to go somewhere but dun know where " tweet oso kena

KUALA LUMPUR: Stricken Malaysia Airlines apologised Saturday (Nov 29) for a year-end promotion tweet that sparked anger on Twitter after it inadvertently drew parallels with the still-missing MH370 flight.

"Want to go somewhere but don't know where?" read the post on Twitter that was meant to promote special deals by the national carrier, prompting scorn from online users.

"I genuinely feel sorry for @MAS, an airline I like, but seriously: 'Want to go somewhere but don't know where?'" one user posted. Malaysia Airlines said the tweet "was intended to inspire travellers during this holiday period to explore destinations and deals" it was offering.

"Unfortunately, it unintentionally caused offence to some, and we have since removed the tweet," it said in a brief statement. It is the second time the carrier, which has been devastated by the loss of 537 people in two air tragedies this year, has run into criticism over its advertising recently.

In September, it said it had changed the name of a ticket-sale promotion that invoked an "inappropriate" death reference by asking travellers which places were on their "Bucket List".

Bookings have plummeted due to the two disasters. MH370 vanished in March with 239 passengers and crew aboard when it inexplicably diverting from its Kuala Lumpur-Beijing course. It is believed to have crashed in the Indian Ocean, but no trace has been found.

MH17 went down in July - believed hit by a surface-to-air missile - in rebellion-torn eastern Ukraine, killing all 298 aboard. The airlines said Friday its third-quarter loss widened 54 per cent year-on-year in the wake of the disasters that have sent its business into a tailspin and prompted a government rescue.

The result marks the seventh straight quarterly loss for the airline, which was already struggling to stay competitive before the disasters.

He might have a fighting chance if he can fire the board.
