To add on to the thread , it IS a little disconcerting when your landlord jumps the rental from $27xx to $ 3300 in one go bcoz of whatever ' artificial scarcity  ' .

Of late, this is no more news but norm everywhere. This 'jump' is now considered reasonable. It is important to look into it and find out why. Demand outstrip supply and why.

I don't know, I am still a very traditional person. A Home is the most important piece of asset I will hold for the family. The rest I can always do without. The future generations may have to accept renting and moving every few years if prices continue to climb like what we are experiencing now.
