Sabian Turbocharged August 27, 2014 Share August 27, 2014 elgrand a better choice. v6 vs 4 potter.... v6 has better power delivery and better torque curve... Didn't realise Elgrand is v6.
Estima2005 1st Gear August 31, 2014 Share August 31, 2014 (edited) Just bought a 2006 Nov Odyssey EXV at $39k. Depreciation about $10k, Mileage done about 40,000km only as it was a OPC. Car condition look great. Picking up the car next week. I Think it is a good buy. Hopefully nothing wrong with the engine. Will trade in my 2004 Oct Estima...mileage 200,000km! The Ody i-vtec engine should be quite reliable. If genuine 40K odometer, shd be a good buy but do not exclude the possibility of it being tampered - OPC does not mean underused. Advantage of this 06 EXV compared to your 04 Estima - sunroof can be opened, slide upwards like a spoiler (Estima front sunroof only pop up slightly - but rear moonroof can open very wide) - powerful bright HID lights - electric rear 3rd row seats that can fold flat - leather seats - nice bright blue speedometer cluster - have cruise control (assuming your 04 estima is not the G edition) - low roof 1.5m only - can installed roof bicycle carrier without exceeding 1.8m in overall height Lastly, hope you realised the significant reduction in interior space, and will not regret as your second generation estima is HUGE (as big as current alphard), with third row seats that can slide horizontally (forward/backward) that allows optimum adjustment with passenger leg room and luggage space. Latest/current 3rd generation estima/previa is definitely smaller than your 2nd generation, but still much bigger than that Ody. Keithdylan Neutral Newbie October 20, 2015 Share October 20, 2015 If price is not a problem, I suggest that you test drive Volksgawen Sharan. I have been driving Estima for six year until this year I change to Sharan. Have been driving for 6 month and I felt that in every aspect is better than Estima except for back storage place. Sharan have full spec such has 11 air bag, premium speaker ,airy moonroof, auto park, auto hold, gps, Bluetooth and many many more.( check at Sg Carmart for spec) 6 speed dsg turbo engine is smooth and century speed is 8 Sec . Car is very stable and in built interior feel premium and luxury. Just a few month ago, car is price at 200k right now I think event car going at 169k. ( (OMV should be 40k plus ) Hope this help before you decide on Estima or Alphard.
OeteM 1st Gear October 21, 2015 Share October 21, 2015 (edited) Been shopping for a new large MPV and thought the Estima most car like shape and size. Drive ability should be ok for wife. (I did look at the Elgrand, Oddy and the Spada and the Toyota Triplets and the Biante. Also VW Sharan,Touran.) Till... I realise the difference in price between Estima (Premium) and Alphard SC -A is only $15k . Estima is $160k and the Alphard $175k .Both comes with sports rims ,leather seat ,powered doors both side. The Estima has powered boot while the Alphard is manual. I always like the Estima but main dislike is its 9 year old model and has only 2 air bags.Height is well below 1.8 m Alphard model is fresh from the bakery and has 7 air bags. Its height , improved slightly from 1.9 m to 1.88m I am worried about the size for wife to drive. Is there a big difference between the two in terms of drive ability, beside the height ? I would think the all round sonar sensor and high seating position should help alleviate. I have also looked at estima but agreed with you that 9 yr old model & 2 airbags turned me off. Currently, elgrand 8 seaters comes into my radar. 8 airbags, power tailgate and height is 1.815m.
