Hardly need to parallel park in Singapore.

Since most xmm drivers can hardly even vertical park, let alone parallel park, they badly need others to park for them. You can be the white knight to save xmm drivers in distress in car park!! [sunny]

Can draw a legal lot to park, yes?

If it's illegal parking, just park a bit slanting also can what!!

Cannot anyhow park. Will kenna scratch one because the road was so narrow. People in HK very good at parking because lots of places need parallel parking.

this reminds me of how drivers park so close to each others in Paris' narrow streets!! when I was trying to cross the road and then walk thru the gap between their bumpers, i couldnt even squeeze thru!! [grin] [grin]

HK has a lots of steep, hilly road side parking, it's amazing how they can park in such difficult situations!!!

I cant remember where, but there's this flat car park in another country, the regular users park and leave their handbrake dis-engagned, put in neutral gear so that if the next car doesnt have enough space to move out, the driver will just push the blocking cars a bit to give him the space!!

Car doors are locked, steal already how to drive it away ?? [grin][sweatdrop]

I remember last time Suntec City used double-parking system and some cars are "parked" on trolleys which can be moved/pushed away together with the car sitting on it if the blocked car needs to move out. How come now no more? Do you remember it?

One important feature to have in this parallel parking, auto left tilt down mirror. The moment your left back tyre reaching the curb, its time to turn your steering wheel. Ensure your front left doesnt hit the car in front.

Indonesia have this parking, so just put your clutch to N and disengage the handbrake.

Although there is theory to explain this, I mainly use my feel and sense the energy of the cars around me.

Most times I get it right, but once in a while I need to adjust again especially when the space is very tight.

Like this more shiok mah. Go and remember so much theory for what? Lol.

ai put up the poles used during driving test mai? [laugh] [laugh]

The theory on parking will only works 30%, the rest of the % will be on own instinct because we have to consider in cars that didn't park within the boundary parking line by some stupid drivers.

Rules of thumb and experience help, but we prefer repeatable experiments. And if you see this and laugh, you're probably not as good as you think you are. Thankfully, the recipe for a one-move parking job is pretty simple.

1. Pull alongside the car ahead of the space you want. Align your rear axle with that car's bumper. Turn the wheel toward the curb at full lock.

2. Back up until the center of your inside rear tire aligns with the streetside edge of the forward car. Straighten wheel, continue to reverse.

3. When your outside tire aligns with that same edge, turn the wheel the other way.

4. If all went according to plan, you're in the space, bodywork intact. Get out and admire your work.

Great illustration! This is exactly what I do, but my wife just doesn't get it.

So I don't bother teaching her anymore and enjoy the praises she lavishes on me every time I parallel park at one go in crowded places.
