can estimate what price if it comes to Singapore?

The T5 2.0T 280bhp 8 speed Aisin auto trans XC90 mk2 -- my guess is, will be priced at about $275-300k incl COE. OMV maybe about $55-60k

It will be pitched against,

1. Macan .. same price but bigger with 7 seats.

2. Q7 ... same price or cheaper, higher OMV, new platform, more economical, better gearbox.

3. X5 ... cheaper, more roomy,

4. GLE ... ML replacing moniker .. cheaper, equally spacious

5. RX270/400h ... same Aisin 8 speed gearbox, about the same price, more spacious

Comments aside, and at the risk of generalising, one buys a Volvo so one can walk away from an accident when perhaps the other driver will not be able to.

T6 316bhp.. probably close to $300k

My assumption is based on them bringing in same engine detuned T5 280bhp (maybe even 265bhp) ...

RX270 is not 7 seater... right?

Looking good! Some nice new large SUV's being released :) I used to own a S60 T5, nice powerful engine let down by a slow gb. I hope they fixed that at least.

EDIT: just read it has a 8-speed box. Both ZF and Aisin make good stuff there. So thats probably fixed [thumbsup]

OMG! terrible engine :angry:

2.0T 4 cyclinders turbo- and super-charged output 316bhp,

seriously doubt, does a family suv really need so much power?

Guessing that you're talking about the T8 model. 316bhp? Think you missed out the 80hp electric motor, which bumps the total output close to 400hp. [nod]

Anyway, I kinda like how the new design language Volvo is going. Looks sleek, excellent interior quality and as safe as a "tank". I love it. :wub:

T6 == 316bhp

T8 == ~400bhp

Just nice my current XC90 left 3 more years... [laugh] can still trade in for the 2.0T >300hp in SG a bit no use... waste petrol also...

Hope they improved the fuel efficiency... but judging by the tremendous raise in hp... i seriously doubt so...

Donch know can Polestar or not...

I test drove the Q7 & X5 before i settled for the 1st gen XC90...

I think interior space wise XC90 is much bigger than these 2... not sure about the rest...

Probably Q7 and M5 slightly better in fuel efficiency?

But, personally, I don't fancy any of the above (maybe, just maybe, the GLE coming a close 2nd) to give the XC90 a decent fight in the 7 seater competition.

Why not? I would imagine for such a big car you would need all those power to pull its heavy body.
