I am not sure of now, but this statement is definitely not true some 25 yr ago.

The thai army fought border wars with cambodia before, and SAF soldiers next to them were like ah boy vs man...

This could be because only the 'coup, martial law, crackdown on protestors, etc.' are reported and keyed into Internet by reporters or other people.

Those who go to war don't think they will have time to login and start a blog...

Those doing secret ops won't let public know too.

Same with Singapore. God know how many secret ops they had done. Both to infiltrate and counter infiltration.

Depends on which country they are warring with. Most of their neighbors (less India, Japan and Russia) will be easily beaten.

Of course, you can't compare their army forces with the other western countries for now as they have only just caught up economically and armies and weapon technology takes time to build up.

don't be fooled . . . . .

Western power observation of China's military in 2013:

“We witnessed the massive amphibious and cross military region enterprise — Mission Action 2013,”

“[We] concluded that the PLA has been given the new task to be able to conduct a short sharp war to destroy Japanese forces in the East China Sea following with what can only be expected a seizure of the Senkakus or even a southern Ryukyu [islands]

If that's the case that would include the US forces and aircraft carrier based in Japan?

Like I mentioned they are cleaning up the corruption in the military. With such a big military force you think they are inadequate? It's the corrupt military commanders they are worried about.

China still can use 人海战术 is all else failed.

In modern warfare, this method can be fatal coz the 人海 may will become easy targets for rapid, wide spread fire power, the enemies may not even have to use hi tech precision weapons :-( The bravery becomes ineffective and has no chance to cause damage to the enemies because it ends before it can start. Unless, the number is so great it can exhaust the ammunitions of the enemies.

Been there, talked to some of them. When I looked into their eyes, I could tell some of them have seen death...

The other time we were sitting side by side with them.. quite a funny scene..

us, most bui bui peh peh, them, short dark and lean.

dunno how they fight though :-)

We have long mocked Malaysia's armed forces but when it was necessary to deploy in the Lahad Datu standoff, they displayed decisiveness and resolve and demonstrated a degree of combined arms operations ability.

We should never underestimate anyone - when sovereignty is on the line, men are capable remarkable things.

Agreed. Like they say, 骄兵必败.

imo ours is probably using technology as main deterrence.

If we go blood and guts, I don't think we can make it.

Taiwan doesn't want to be gulped up . . . so easily.

So, embarking on making their own sub.

http://www.etaiwannews.com/etn/news_content.php?id=2587625

Williamsburg, Virginia Oct. 6 (CNA) After waiting in vain to purchase submarines from the U.S., Taiwan has begun preparing to build vessels on its own,

Taiwan's Deputy Defense Minister Chiu Kuo-cheng said here Monday. Chiu, who led a Taipei delegation to the U.S.-Taiwan Defense Industry Conference 2014, said that in addition to acquiring submarines from abroad, Taiwan is aggressively developing defensive weapons on its own and was preparing to build its own submarines.

The deputy minister also urged Washington to continue providing Taiwan with the technology and weapons it needs to defend itself, especially advance fighter jets and diesel-electric submarines.

The matter is extremely urgent, Chiu said, because of China's aggressive military build-up in the air and at sea, he said, noting that China's first aircraft carrier, the Liaoning, has completed its first round of sea training, and its missile forces have improved the mobility and accuracy of their tactical missiles.

If our boy boy 阿兵哥 can shiver waiting to see the saf dentist during peace time, can't imagine what will happen when they see first blood, flying blood stained limbs in battles.
