if a jap car, then unlikely you need a massive overhaul of the engine unless its been modded.

 

2 type of overhaul, top and full. usually top only will replace the head gaskets and valve seals.full overhaul will in addition to the top overhaul, the piston rings and any bearings if needed.

 

difficult to estimate but i figure 4k for a full overhaul should be enough. if i were to renew, i would add in $600-800/yr in extra maintenance over a brand new car just to be safe. but it all depends on the condition and the exact mileage of the coe you buy. it can be lower than $600.

 

a brand new jazz will be approx 6.5k/per yr in depre. a coe jazz around 4k/yr. extra rdtax around $236 a year for 10years. so overall cost for a coe jazz will be 4.8-5k. i assume that fuel consumption and insurance is the same and no loans taken.

 

if you can cough out the extra 1.5k, you will be driving a 10year newer car. Thus actually for COE renewal it actually make more sense for expensive cars as the ARF is now much higher, for B&B, you still save but not too much in the end.

true...but not forgetting to add in loan interest for new car. Rule of 78 still applies these days? I never take loan for some time liao. unless u are cash rich and can pay in full cash but also maybe got extra charges for no loan

4k-4.5k/yr for the used coe jazz is of course with dealer margin as seen on sgcarmart. Parf is 7k, so if one owned it for some time before renewal then the price could drop till around 3.7k/yr.

I guess those that bought during April 2009 and renew next year when it hits 10years would save the most. But then you have to ask yourself if you foresee driving the same car for 20years. I can’t.

Aug 2010 Honda Jazz 1.5 to let go. 

 

2 owner, 180k mileage. 

 

new solar film (LTA approved) and 70% thread on all tyres, new car mat just changed last week. 

 

Parf as of 30th Nov @ $18723.00. 

 

20 months left.

Hi bros, got a Subaru Legacy 2.5 GT to let go due to CO want to change car...

Coe till 22nd Dec 2019...

Maintain regularly and oil change with 10w50...

Welcome ur personal workshop to check if u need...

No test drive due to insurance but I can take u for a spin...

I’m the 3rd owner and the best thing is all stock... not a single mod...

Current parf is 21634...

Mileage around 150k or less... forget to see odo...

Omv 35576...

Looking at 25000...

Replaced all 4 shock absorbers on 2nd December 2018

 

Interior is in a great condition 9/10

 

Coe expires in March 2019

Servicing Done by AD only. Last servicing done on 21st September 2018

Why do certain older cars have such high parf values?
