Lowballer Offers $100 For Soon-To-Be Scrapped Car

Facebook post (7 Apr) showing screenshots of messages between a seller and buyer of a used Nissan Latio car went viral recently.

Initially, the exchange seemed smooth with the buyer looking to purchase the car on the day itself (17 Dec).

However, this took a turn for the worse after discussing the terms of Certificate Of Entitlement (COE) renewal.

When the seller quoted the price of $11,000 dollars without COE renewal he was offered $100 instead.

Could be from carousell. That is a low baller heaven. For a very very simple reason, anonymous means can do anything you want can try all sorts of nonsense pattern.

This case: IMHO, latio dont command such body price, but to offer $100 is simply rubbish also.

The mileage too good to be true...

If you look at sgcarmart, there are many cars with mileage is even much lower than this BMW, and almost are with only 1 owner.

This car mileage is only 9500 km after 10 years (only 0.9k /yr), seems genuine:

Mileage of 24700 km (2.5k /yr):

Mileage of 57200 km (5.9k /yr):

1 owner, the ex ownet should have kept the service records. Ask for last 3 service records to validate the mileage on the service records.

I sold 1 with 50+k mileage 10yrs lifespan due, didnt really believe so send into PML and yes its true, but lapse in service cycle.

The service after the last mileage was no longer done in PML. Trust me not all will keep records... infact most of them dont.

agree that not every one will  keep service record but usually those 1 owner type would be more likely to keep their service record. I do keep mine too.

On skipping service, it may not be the case. After some years of service, I send my car back to AD for servicing only on alternate schedule, the other one i just do  it outside, so while AD may not have the full service record, the car is still fully serviced.

new car vs used car

virgin vs 2nd hand

no accident vs uncertain background including accident, rash handling

unless the saving is substantial which I dont believe so, there is no point buying a fairly new used car.

Pro :

1. It is a Mercedes

2. It is a bigger car as compared to an Altis - more space

3. It is a luxury car - Face value (maybe?)

Con :

1. assuming the mileage is genuine, low mileage doesn't mean the car is problem/accident free - can this car run 10 more years? i don't know because afterall this is a 10year old car.

2. If there is any problem, there may not be warranty to cover unlike a new car from AD.

3. Road tax/insurance more expensive

I read this thread and really want to vomit.

Why do people think car has big fat problem with running over 10years.

Such is the brain wash mindset of Coe that it has on people.

It is only in Singapore that when the 10th year mark arrives, all cars will suddenly tio cancer, regardless of brands, models, makes and builts.

Spot on bro. That's why our dear garment care for us so much that the car should see doctor every year or else it might just disintegrate.
