NTUC sell Psyllium husk. This is very high in fibre with no side effects.

Three teaspoons a day in a mug of water and plenty of water intake throughout the day may well help any pain with the piles she has.

In fact it may help so much surgery not required.

Long term then Sultana Bran cerial from Sheng Shiong is great.

I eat now daily because I love the taste.

Mustafa sells the ' telephone brand ' and it is cheap.

I think my auny is reluctant to go under e knife especially given her age. burn e piles seems like a less painful idea for her. let me go google

There is a "TCM" piles specialist at People's Park Centre or Complex, forgot which one. Run by an old man. Not sure whether it's still in operation, what he does is to apply herbal medicine and also tie up the haemorrhoid, and after a week or so the piles will die off and drop off.

Years back when my parents did it, it cost around $1200, also depends on how many "pieces" he needs to remove.

but what the doc told my aunt is that piles will return, it cannot be eliminated unless its a complete lifestyle change ie eat more fibre, poo daily etc.

so in your parents' case, did the piles return?

Something similar to what my parents did:

Feels so painful to read this thread. I can somewhat relate even though I dpnt have piles. My butt is very prone to get huge painful nodules, and its very difficult to sit when it happens. Some time more than 5-6 at once.

Have to adopt lifestyle and diet change after fixing the problem, no TCM or doctor can guarantee that piles won't return after getting rid of them.

My parents generally don't have problems after fixing the piles. I think it's been almost 10 years?

Okay la, maybe tell something that may relieve your pain, as it relieve mine, but knowing about this skin disease itself may end up causing you to feel more pain.

At first I thought I have this disease called hidradenitis suppurativa(HS), its when a cluster of many different type of cyst forming around the butt or underarms. Over time, a sinus tract network is formed and there is no cure. Can google for it, really feel dam sad for those that contracted it.

I was really worried back then, cause the large nodules, had been around for more than 5months, some was painful some wasn't. Many were form deep beneath the skin, and over the course of few months, they will start surfacing into like gigantic acne. Even getting in and out of the car was so painful. I went to see my derma and thank god he cleared my of HS before I even suggested it was what I thought.

Exactly, my auntie was telling me she eats an apple a day for the fibre and tried to poo once a day, so far no relapse.

When I was a boy, my mom told me not to sit immediately on seats that were sat on by another person as it is hot and would cause piles. As a small boy I never appreciated what she said. Now thinking back and looking at my aunt's condition, i think I better follow and slap the seats a few times before sitting down.

Piles is also known as Hemorrhoid disease. In piles, the vascular structures of the anal canal, which help in stool control, become inflamed or swollen. It can be internal or external. Although, most of the time, the symptoms get healed in a few days, still it is very much painful for the sufferersâ, especially the external piles. Besides, piles can reoccur frequently if not treated well.

A majority of people are embarrassed to talk about piles if they have it, they suffer silently. Although anyone can get piles, most of them are aged 50 and above. Piles can be treated by surgery, but it is more costly and painful as compared to the Ayurvedic treatment.

Ayurveda approaches piles from many angles. Ayurveda includes lifestyle, medication, herbal supplements, diet, exercise and massage. Ayurveda deduces that a leading cause of piles is an imbalance in the functioning of the digestive system; hence a major part of the Ayurveda treatment is centered on the digestive system. Some of the treatments at Vedamrut are as follows:

The Ayurvedic Ksharsutra Therapy is one of the most effective way of treating piles. The kshar sutra is a medicated thread. It is coated several times with latex, alkaline powder of Achyranthus aspera. The kshar sutra gradually cuts through the fistulous tract from the apex to periphery. The kshara are anti-inflammatory and antislought agents and can do chemical curetting. Patients can resume their daily routine even 3 days after the treatment.

Two most important herbs used in the Ayurvedic treatment for Piles (http://www.vedamrutayu.com/) are Jimikand and Haritaki. Changes in the diet lifestyle are suggested by Ayurveda; like moderating the diet during the treatment period, adding fiber, mango and sesame seeds, fruits like dried figs, amalaki, jambul etc. even some vegetables like turnip, radish; while avoiding starchy foods like brinjal, potatoes etc.

Some other remedies include applying Ayurvedic oils like kaasisadi, nirgundi externally; applying papaya juice with mustard oil; a mixture of turmeric and neem powder with aloe vera juice is also recommended. At Vedamrut Ayurvedic, Thane; Piles is treated holistically and successfully with this

, and other remedies. A big advantage is that the treatment is painless, natural, and you can avoid the complicated Surgery and its costs.

Hi all,

I just like to share my experience and also as gratitude to the doc that have treated me.

I had friends who went under piles treatment - the western ways, surgery or ligation (banding) and they all had told me recovery was a living hell.

I have piles since secondary school, it doesn't really bother me, no pain, infrequent blood and i can always "push" it back. However, over the years, it seems to have grown and it was harder to push them back even though i still don't feel pain or blood. But i am very conscious about having a "flower" lumps growing outside my rear though only my partner get to see them, i am still super conscious and i was concern that it will just keep growing and if i get older, it would be harder to go under knife or endure the living hell recovery stage for 2-3 weeks.

I googled extensively for local and overseas treatment that i can "avoid" sufferings and i came across tonyo medical hall from various forums, fb and decided to go for a consultation. Dr. Kong is old, but still very alert and very details during the initial consultation and examination. He told me that i have about 8 internal and external piles altogether but it is not the worst he has seen or treated and assured me that during the whole procedure i would only feel "ant bite" pain that last less than few seconds. I was skeptical of coz and the price he quoted is not cheap so i told him to let me consider.

I talked to friends that had their piles fixed and they told me they would pay that sum Dr kong quoted anytime over the living hell during their recovery via western medical ways. My gf who is a mum of 2 told me it was worse than her c-sec recovery and another guy friend (ex-commando) told me he literally wish he can turn back the clock and not do the surgery if he knew the recovery is gonna be so intense.

So in less than a week after the 1st consultation with Dr. Koh, i decided to go along with the procedure, which was yesterday (yay, i am now sitting upright and typing this experience while it is fresh on my mind). Yesterday afternoon he managed to treat 6 out of my 8 piles and this morning i went back to do another 2 big ones. Reason why he can't do all in one is because of the position of the 2 huge piles are behind the 6 piles so he needs to get to the front piles first, shrink them in order to proceed to the 2 huge ones.

Now for the procedure, it was like what he said.. "ant bite" for few seconds on each pile coz he has to apply the med to "control and stable" them before the proceed to tackle the "root" of the piles. Yup it sounded easy but the whole procedure for my 6 piles took over an hour yesterday, and the 2 huge piles took 30mins today.

I came home with no pain, just abit of "discomfort" as the piles have started shrinking in my ass... i checked my underwear, no blood or whatever so, coz nothing was being cut at all like what he said. He advise me to work from home next few days, don't be too active with my walking so to not irritate the piles as it continue shrinking and will eventually fall off.

He gave me some cream to apply and also told me to do sitz bath with salt  (you can google that). Glad i bough the sitz bath from Qoo10 prior to the procedure, it will speed up the recovery so even though it is painless i wanna get the "discomfort" feeling out of the way so i can start running.

I will share more the next few days on the recovery.
