I thought the new E180 is powered by a 1.5l TC engine producing the equivalent of a 1.8l drivetrain? It is still a less powerful car in this case. Is this naming convention valid for MB? Mkl22 Twincharged February 17, 2020 Share February 17, 2020 Damn cock up. Bring in E180 Must pay 10k for C1 VES. And then need to strip down it further to make a price difference from E200 Substantial enough ......wait.... I’m the dumb one here. Just jack up the price of E200 and E300 even more and probably still can sell... done. 😀

I was told BMW's naming convention is based on power output, the two digits after the model name is an indication of the “feel” of the drivetrain. 3.0 ‘feels’ like a 3-litre engine. 40 in X5 feels like a 4-litre engine. i thought MB is also keeping to that convention although it is really easy to inflate those numbers these days since they are no longer based on actual engine displacement.
