Nanjing Road is so packed with pedestrians even on week days, not to mention big festive season like count down.

The culprit who threw the fake money will have to live with the conscience that his action had killed so many innocent people!:(

I once watched a fireworks display on the bund( don't know what was the occasion though)

Very impressive and seemed to go on and on for a long time

Not like our national day 10 to 15 mins only

Can understand why an event like that would attract huge crowds

The death toll... it's as bad as a terrorist-related incident. And so easy to cause such chaos (just throw fake money??)

Let's hope it doesn't give ideas to the wrong people...

Thats why, in many big city, they control the numbers of people in the firework zone.

I was in Berlin in 2011 new years eve, & area where celebration took place is barricaded, & control by police, You need a ticket to enter.

I was also in public screening for the world cup final, & there, also you need ticket to enter the screen area. Its like 2€, but there are at least proper control & decent space.
