I wonder if there is one similar ranking exercise for judiciary freedom? will be interested to see where Singapore and Malaysia rank. Hsiao 1st Gear February 12, 2015 Share February 12, 2015 Very impressive already for our Singapore press. At least Singapore is eligible to participate for the ranking. It's still better than no Press Freedom mah.
Darryn Turbocharged February 12, 2015 Author Share February 12, 2015 We are still ranks #1 if you see filter under first world countries. Heee... So which argument is better? A) Singapore should not be compared against other first world countries, it is fairer to compare us against emerging countries B) The report has a bias against Confucian values, which we practise here in Singapore, so it is obviously unfair*. * spot the problem in this particular line of defense I am surprised ST reported this article. It's like a slap in the face for the press. Frankly - how could they not? There is no escaping the news, if they try to sidestep it they will look even more foolish. The interesting thing will be the follow-up

Ingenius Turbocharged February 12, 2015 Share February 12, 2015 To be a truly mature society, Singapore government should open up the newspaper and media industry and remove the monopoly of state controlled newspaper. Readers should be allowed to discern for themselves what are credible reports and not. Everything we read and hear also controlled will not allow progress of the nation. Forte3737 5th Gear February 12, 2015 Share February 12, 2015 When the state control the media, this is what will happen. In order for the media to free itself, the Opp needs to win at least 51% of the seats. ↡ Advertisement
