Matoonia 6th Gear March 13, 2015 Author Share March 13, 2015 bro, how much does the diagnostic kit cost? bro, whch vw model you have need to change gb and which year of the car did that happen? VW Passat B6 1.8T Aisin GB , not DSG seeing that you have given such long thoughts into this... am curious.. have u went down to see the car yet?? Have seen it in the flesh, not the same car, but the same 09 A8 3.2L. Outside looks dated, but once u step foot inside is feel like a king, be it behind the wheel or taking a back seat. Which car and which workshop? Very scary better avoid 😱 VW Passat B6. Not very scary lah, most are wear and tear. This car already better than most VW models haha. I also read up a lot about the car, so most of my issues are quite well-documented. I guess maybe I'm prepared for all these, so it really depends. My first car was EG6, also a lot of problems, every month visit workshop, 1 year tow 2 times . Switched to corolla, only went for servicing and nothing else and cannot rem much of it. Maybe I'm have a soft spot for temperamental cars haha ↡ Advertisement

flashbang Turbocharged March 13, 2015 Share March 13, 2015 I have switched from a Japanese car to VW 4 years ago. Enjoyed 1 year of warranty with VCS, and then stuck with a specialist VW workshop since. In the last 3 years, I have replaced GB, Engine mountings, Fuel pumps, recon GB once. Including normal servicing, tyre change etc average maintenance works out to $5k a year. In other words, I'm familiar with high maintenance costs So if an A8/730 depreciation is around $15k, compared to an A4/320 which is same or even higher, then it may be worthwhile to change to A8/730 then. And assuming if the 320 annual maintenance is $5k, then can factor 50% more for A8 which is $8k. $8k maintenance + $2k more road tax = $10k, so the annual running costs of a A8 is only $5k more than 320 (excluding petrol). So a 320 driver annual running costs of $20k, add another $5k (25%) can upgrade to drive A8. Compared to new 730 price is twice that of 320, so from this angle it offers very wu hua (good value) Replaced GB + recon GB? That's a lot of GB problems in 3 years... Silvermail 1st Gear March 14, 2015 Share March 14, 2015 I owned an Audi A8 for 2 years. Spent about $30K+ on the repairs, but it's a really good car. Till today I miss the power, legroom and bulletproof interior. No wind noise and it's very good for high speed cruising. The air suspension is something that will have to be changed, especially in Singapore's hot climate. The rubber seal do not last in this type of weather, and once the rubber deteriorates the air will leak out. Cost of front suspension is ~10K with the air compressor. Fuel consumption is heavy, about 5-6 KM/l. I don't drive much, and stays only 3-4 KM away from the office so maybe that's why.
Volvobrick Supersonic March 14, 2015 Share March 14, 2015 You will to do some work to hunt down parts from overseas at reasonable prices instead of buying from agent or stockists here.
