Can i check, out of all this workshops listed below, which one do you all frequent to for your car servicing/repairs or recommend to visit? Need to send my honda civic FD2A  for servicing soon and not sure which workshop is most "value for money" for servicing costs and labor etc . Thanks

servicing as in just change engine oil? if change engine oil any workshop also can do.

servicing as in routine maintenance like changing all the oils ( engine/transmission fluid)changing parts if necessary e.g brake pads/rotors / engine mounts

i had been to SKM previously. it is a competent workshop. due to its popularity, you might have to wait for quite some time.

if it is just replacement of engine oil and filter, you could also check out Mxtrading. there are 2 freelance mechanics that do basic servicing on Sunday for customers who purchased engine oil from the shop. the shop also sells other replacement parts like oil filters, spark plugs, wiper blades, cabin filters, headlight bulbs etc.

having said that, many local workshops are sufficiently competent to service a Honda or any other Japanese cars. it need not be a so-called Honda specialist workshop. more important is to find one which you are comfortable with.

engine oil change and transmission oil change is very simple. can DIY also. I also DIY change all these myself. include engine oil filter and ATF oil filter

Hi bros, just got myself a FD4 manual recently. When i pull my handbrake on a upslope (to drive off), there's a metallic grinding sound from the rear of the car. The handbrake not losing any grip though, should i be worried about this?

it should be your brake shoes wearing out soon. or rotor drum is about time to replace.

Don't confuse servicing and oil change. An engine oil change is part of the servicing process that most workshops can handle competently.

A proper servicing includes at least an 8-point to 54-point checklist (more points equal more detailed checks, possibly adding to cost) on top of the rudimentary engine oil and oil filter change.

A competent workshop goes beyond just an oil change and will be able to diagnose and detect problems during servicing before they happen, both mechanically and electronically. A car is made up of thousands of parts that form an automotive system. Failure to one may inevitably lead to failure in others so do not take servicing lightly.

Try to stick to one or two preferred workshops as they are likely to keep historical records of works performed on your vehicle and provide better advice. 

At the end of the day, people visit these specialist workshops because they have accumulated tremendous experience with cars of these brands that others may fail to match. If you meet with a quirky issue, chances are your workshop may even contact these specialists for advice themselves.

Your chances of getting ripped at specialists workshops are also lower albeit with higher waiting time because they do have a glowing reputation to maintain.

On a side note, today when to check with Kah motor if my particular vehicle had the takata airbag issue resolved by providing vehicle chasis number. Luckily turned out the issue was rectified already a few years back.

 Totally forgot about this takata airbag recall for numerous car models until today including the 8th gen civic that was infamous a couple of years ago. Since i took over the car in  Xmas Dec 2019 this issue did not crop up until now when started thinking about airbags.😓
