Every car is different, as with each battery’s typical MTBF shelf life

draining it consistently via car cam will hasten the decline faster.

Using a car often will also cause more wear and tear, parts replacement etc. Then how?

no need to be sarcastic la.

i have good intentions when i suggest to have a power pack for the car cam. i never insisted one MUST buy or say bird talk to people who don't.

end of the day, it's your car. you do what you want.

steady steady ok?

Anyway, i can monitor the output voltage of my car battery via the cam app.

While the car is not started,  the voltage reading is about 12.xV

While the car has started, the voltage reading is about 14.xV

The only downside without the battery pack is parking mode is limited to car battery and user needs to shut down the cam if car not started over a long period of time.

I believe some bros had discussed in the cam recommendations thread on the cost effectiveness of having the battery pack as it cost the same as the cam price.

very fair point.

length of recording during parked hours is also important.

i used to wire my car cam to my batt using powermagic, and i kena a hit and run when parked. the car reversed into my car, hit my bumper, and zao.

when i checked my cam footage, i only had about 4 hours of recording before the cam was cut off. and i'm lucky that that the hit occurred during that 4 hours. imagine it happened when my cam is not recording, there's no way i could have sought any recourse.

therefore, it has become important to me to have continuous recording for a period of at least 12 hours when i'm parked outside my home, because i don't usually leave it parked for that long outside.

Anyone knows the car key battery model for A3 and where to buy? PA charged $15 for replacement, looking for cheaper alternatives.

Open ur key fob to see what battery is it.

if it’s 2032, it’s quite commonly available and it’s very cheap. Like $1.50 or $2 only

Bros ... I have to buy a car for the "CEO". I am looking at a few possible options and this 3 yo Audi A3.

https://www.sgcarmart.com/used_cars/info.php?ID=886659&DL=2303

Can provide some opinions if this is a good buy and what to look out for?

Other options:

  1. Mazda 3 Standard - reasonably priced and a hybrid
  2. Kia Stonic - Lowest priced and heaps of options included
  3. Toyota Corolla - Highest price and the latest model
  4. Civic - slightly dated but good alternative

Sounds like your budget is about 90-100k.. with some practical choices, then some thought flashed in your mind about "hey why not a premium marque car?

Well, do consider what you want, branded handbag or a practical one with the features you want. Do make sure the car has the things you need (the 3 year old A3 may not even have a USB port, don't even talk about active safety feature..) and the cost of repairs / maintenance.. then ask your boss to decide..
