I'm not absolutely sure, but I think it's because your rear cam have almost half the video covered by the car.

I did some video encoding research before.  Modern encoding techniques encode the differences between the current and previous frame.

If half the frame is not moving, then the video file size will be half when compared to a video where everything captured is constantly changing.

Hi Fordred, you are very clever. You are right!!!

The front and rear capturing view are about the same and hence, same file size!

The rear capturing 1/2 of what front view is doing, hence rear video file is smaller!

Cool!

Just got research before, and it's just a guess, wasn't 100% sure. haha.

Glad it helped clear things up.

Learnt there is no need for switch. Some installer can wire to ignition if you don't want parking to be on.

bro, think some of us here still wants the parking to be on. but just that if we know we are not driving for the next 5 days, then will "switch" off to prevent draining dry of the battery. if 1-2 days no drive, still ok.

but seems like some bros with V9 don't encounter this draining of battery even never drive for 9 days ...

hhhmmm.... [:/]

I did a verification today by adjusting the Rear Camera to have a greater view.

Front:

Both video file sizes are almost the same.

So the camera is in fact OK.

Hi, I am very new to the road. Getting car soon and would like to learn about car cam from the gurus here.

I will be parking the car in surface carpark (no shade). I want to get a front rear car cam but this would probably mean the system needs to be installed, and I am concerned that the system will be exposed to lots of heat at the carpark and probably spoil faster.

Are there car cams that I can plug and play only when I drive and then stow it in the compartments when I park? If so, any front rear cam options?

Also, where do you guys go to shop and learn about car accessories?

Google.

Actually don't even need to goggle. There's already so many in-car cameras thread in this forum. Spend some time searching for it here.

Everyone going to have different views and budgets so read the threads and decide yourself which camera suits ur needs and budget.

Yes. If iroad can stop the recording when parking mode is disabled, I would not need to install a switch. Parking mode is working well.

I observed that even when parking mode is switched on, battery level is stable if the car travels enough distance to recharge the battery during the day. I switch off parking mode off just as a precautionary as I travel less on some days.

I set my cut off at 12.3v and the camera stops recording after about 2 - 3 hrs of parking. But irritatingly, it will "restart the system to protect the battery of the car" every time I start the car.

That cutoff voltage seems high. My car new battery is about 12.4v when parked.

My cam set at 11.8v, recommended by my car workshop. My cam with parking mode on never hit this level since I installed the cam 2 months ago.

You are using V9?

How long has your car battery been in used?

I deliberately did it to see if my battery condition improve or not. Apparently, the cam will always restart itself if it goes below the cut off voltage. I think I will have to deactivate the voice alert... So irritating...

The voltage is different when car engine is on and off. When engine is on, the voltage is much higher. You can see the voltage for yourself when you use the live view. Maybe your cam shutdown during parking as it goes below 11.3v and it startup again when you on your engine as the voltage goes above that level again.

Hi V9 users...

Only recently i've managed to view the recordings using a computer. As I'm using iPhone, i was told that i can't hear any of the recorded audio.

Just then, when i used my computer, the audio recording seems to be juddering. Intermittent, 'on and off', like so robotic. But the video playback is smooth.

I am using a macbook to view the recordings. i installed the iroad.exe software by using wine bottler app for mac. The only way to install windows apps in a mac.

Really unlike the smooth audio recording plus video playback seen in the corvit website video examples.

Any advice?

Thanks,

Same thing... updated the firmware... will monitor the situation.

Hi, can you share with me how do you perform firmware upgrade? How do you know if your firmware is outdated?

Hi how much is the gps dongle?

Not very sure on that as I didn't purchase the GPS dongle. I guess it is not that critical after all. It just save the hassle of alighting your car and taking photos of the incident location.
