Jman888 Moderator July 15, 2015 Share July 15, 2015 I think the idea that they're called bus "captains" means they have a degree of discretion as to who they would like to admit onboard their vehicle. You are right in that it could be an old person or a young kid or handicapped and it wouldnt make an iota of difference. However, as anyone in a service or customer-facing line, they have the prerogative, indeed the onus falls on them to make correct decisions I think there should be a degree of common sense involved. Likewise if you have a blind or handicapped person will you force them off the bus simply because they are unable to afford the fare? Granted rules are there for a reason but this isnt a million dollar question and anyone even a passerby would have the sense to make the right call Likewise in the US if you're in uniform and check in, often you'll be upgraded for nothing as thanks for your service. Or it is not unheard of for Business Class passengers to give up their seats for servicemen. I think this level of respect has to be developed here i agree we need to be gracious. the society will be gracious if the story is written by someone praising the guy who pay for the NSF, not focusing on how heartless the bus driver was. and who was the one submitting the story to stomp? Mustank Hypersonic July 15, 2015 Share July 15, 2015 i agree we need to be gracious. the society will be gracious if the story is written by someone praising the guy who pay for the NSF, not focusing on how heartless the bus driver was. and who was the one submitting the story to stomp? nowadays many story, must be careful about credibility anyway the allowance increase liao http://www.mindef.gov.sg/imindef/press_room/official_releases/sp/2012/06mar12_speech2/06mar12_fs3.html#.VaYVOML2PIU Table 1: Current and Revised NS Rank Allowance (per month) Rank Current Rank Allowance Revised Rank Allowance Recruit (REC) $420 $480 Private (PTE) $420 $480 Lance-Corporal (LCP) $440 $500 Corporal (CPL) $490 $550 Specialist Cadet Trainee (SCT) $510 $570 Corporal First Class (CFC) $530 $590 3rd Sergeant (3SG) $740 $800 2nd Sergeant (2SG) $840 $900 Officer Cadet (OCT) $700 $760 2nd Lieutenant (2LT) $940 $1000 Lieutenant (LTA) $1120 $1180 * On top of the rank allowance, combat allowances are paid to those in combat vocations, and range from $100-$300. ** The figures above refer to the base quantum of the rank allowance for each rank. Servicemen can receive an increment equal to 5% of the base quantum of that rank for every 12 months that they serve in that rank.

Mustank Hypersonic July 15, 2015 Share July 15, 2015 Urm, last I checked, SAF does not equal Score Additional Freebies. last time my was a stay out camp but I volunteered to stay in because I really needed the money for my uni pocket money I was lucky because the camp had a lot of rich man kids so I volunteered to do all the unpopular duties on special days and earn enough to not ask ffrom my parents on my first year of uni

Nolicense Turbocharged July 15, 2015 Share July 15, 2015 NSF already paid an allowance and meals provided. Still need free transport? Fwah! allowance even less than table wiper pay.. some more allowance used to buy supplies that mindef is too cheap to give. rifle cleaning supplies, black tape, comms cord, torch, battery, extra uniform.. things that e-mart credit cannot use for. I think high time that we pay bangla to do sai kang and leave nsmen out of it.
StefanK Supercharged July 15, 2015 Share July 15, 2015 Maybe the NS boy got family financial problems, so the allowance all give to family. I don't want to compare NS then and NS now. The reason I hate Stomp is because last time I sec school kid, forgot to top up card then try to take bus, bus driver also kick me off at the next stop... this type of thing is LL one. Bus driver is just doing his job, like that also need to stomp? si bei jia lat...

I remember my first bookout weekend was to "army market" at beach road where I had to buy my own supplies.... Ridiculous. But extra uniform can use emart credit la. ↡ Advertisement
