It is really stressful for those who are affected. While no dealers can be guranteed safe, buying from a more established PI would still be safer than dealing with a new small timer. COE will shrink dratically from late 2019 onwards, that means the pie of new car for PI will shrink as well, more PIs can be expected to close shop , potential buyers from PI need to be be very careful in deciding the PI they want to deal with.

Oiyo, why you so like that, telling all the truth?

Case said to approach them, for what huh?

Pay lip service or wayang ?

Might as well close shop like those fraudulent dealers.

When the tiger is toothless, what can we expect? Hopefully some criminal offences are disclosed so that the cops can come into the picture!

Can i report to CASE that CASE itself has an issue? They are only doing lip service and also does no help to consumers.

Hopefully they will ownself check ownself.

Supercharged

This PI is like submarine, surface to launch a few ICMBs and submerge to scoot. CASE is like a battleship, so big huge in size but cannot hunt them down.

CASE issues consumer alerts regarding closure of two car dealers

SINGAPORE: The Consumers Association of Singapore (CASE) on Friday (Mar 23) issued consumer alerts regarding the closure of two car dealers, Apex Car and Novelty Auto.

On its website, the association said it received a total of nine complaints in total regarding the closure of both car dealers.

Five of those were for Apex Car, which was located at 61 Ubi Avenue 2. Consumers reported that the company promised to deliver their cars to them in late February or early March, but the dealer vacated its premises and cannot be reached.

The customers had paid deposits for the cars, which totalled about S$206,000.

The other four complaints were lodged against Novelty Auto, which was located at 10 Kaki Bukit Road 2. The business was registered in July last year.

Similarly, consumers reported that the dealer promised to deliver their cars within a few months, but has since vacated its premises and is now uncontactable. Deposits totalling about S$98,000 had been paid by the customers

CASE said that affected consumers may approach them for further assistance.

"Consumers who suspect that fraud is involved should report such cases to the police," it added.

For these PIs, the govt should impose a rule that these company to present their financials every half yearly to reduce the probabilities of such fraud cases.

this kind of industry if want to open must put deposit minimum 1/2 a million.....see whether those kind of piakers want to play other people money or not. If no 1/2 mill......go fly kite! Want to buy car need to pay 40% up front.....want to open pi dealership only need to register small amount! Any Tom with small dick but harry balls can open one.....chiak the deposit and run road and the authorities can do nothing about it. Not the 1st time and wont be the last until the authorities wants to clamp down on such fly-by-night operations.

All companies are like that, car industry is more susceptible to such fraud due to the big amounts involved. We have all heard of the various renovation company scams also, take deposit then run.
