It is advisable to seek 2nd opinion before servicing/repairing your car with RDY. They were better in the past IMHO when the older batch of experienced technicians were still around.

Do you have a picture of the broken coolant tube? Probably it cracked and therefore causes leak due to extreme heat in Singapore over a long period of time? Lets give a benefit of doubt since this is consider a wear and tear components.

Unfortunately I did not take a photo.

Was driving when I realised the temp level went to "H" zone and had a warning tone sounding off. Stopped the car and checked that the coolant tank was completely depleted and realised the tube had broken off completely and dangling. I strongly doubt it could have been caused due to the environment reasons.

A more logical reason and what I doubt is that MAYBE when I brought the car for timing belt change, the technician might have applied a force on the tube knowing or unknowingly causing a crack on the tube which propagated and broke the tube completely within a few days... Just my thought

Anyway it was the transparent small "tube" protruding from the coolant tank which connects to the black rubber tube that broke off together with the black rubber tube.. Hard to explain in words

Saw a couple of bad reviews of them in some websites but they were quite outdated. But to be fair there were also many good reviews about their experience and parts with Chevrolet cars. And I had to change my timing belt so I thought they were the next best place(after alpine) to get the timing belt changed as they were Chevrolet specialist. For normal servicing wouldn't take the risk to go back there Edited by Kurtselva

The drive is good. There is a flat spot around 80km/h. The low end and high end torque makes the drive enjoyable. Stable at high speed and no floating feel even during heavy downpour.

Will wait till 3rd year after warranty period to implement the Trifecta tune - stage 0 (+44 WHP +51 ft-lbs) which increase the car power in all gear and also makes the drive smoother. It will also improves the car fuel consumption.

Those air-con issues are not major issues since it happens on all car brands.

Bro, Trifecta tune makes the car alot smoother during gear changes but FC not much diff from stock. Worth to try it out

Have you tested it already? Does the above apply to the 1.4T model as well?

Go for the 1.4T if price diff is no so big. Believe you won't regret it ^^

Owned cruze 2011 for 5 yrs, no major problem occured except slow pickup from stop position , fc achieved 520km till fuel light on and able to travel another 60km or more from there on full tank. Can hardly go beyond 140km/h on NSHW in boleh land unless you floor the accelerator. Engine oil change every 10k and ATF every 30k.

Just got my Cruze 1.4T. Switched from the previous 2013 model 1.6. I must say the difference in power is quite significant. There are some differences (result of cost cutting) from my previous Cruze though. Here are some that I observed:

- missing rear seat centre cup holder

- missing cigarette lighter

- dashboard plastic feels brittle (maybe a bit of armour all treatment will help)

Difference between 1.6 and 1.4 models:

- hydraulic power steering for 1.6. Electric for 1.4T version. The electric steering feels alot lighter at low speed.

- rear suspension (to be confirmed). 1.4T has Z-link added to the torsion beam. The 1.6 is just a plain simple torsion beam.

- 6th gear will engage at about 80km/h in the 1.4T model versus 70km/h on the 1.6 model.

I noticed most people got the 1.6 model while collecting my new car. Hardly surprising as it's value for money for what you get.

bought a cruze 1.6 during my posting to china but sold it off in less than a year.

felt that car in way under power, quiet during idling but engine get noisy above 2000rpm. interior look cheap and suspension feel cheap too.

can't comment on the maintenance due to seldom use the car before I sold it off.

go for conti if you are financially sound else go for the jap or Korean with more refine and smoother drive.

Hi Lava,

Not sure if you bought your car brand new or 2nd hand. I've owned both the 1.6 and 1.4 models and I must say I don't quite agree with some of your impressions.

I agree that the 1.6l is noisy at anything above 2000rpm. Its a really underpowered car and hardly surprising why the engine needs to be constantly above 2000rpm just to keep it moving.

The 1.4l is quite a different breed. I rarely have to hit above 2000rpm when cruising on normal roads. Engine is actually very quiet but of course gets more audible when you increase throttle. I do like the sound of it (somehow turbocharged cars do sound different from NA engines).

Interior plastics is a hit and miss. On my 1.6l Cruze, the finishing was quite alright. Definitely not those soft plastics you get from more expensive cars but still decent. On my 1.4T, you can see a bit of cost cutting measures in place where plastics feel a bit more brittle. The side door pockets especially have hard and sharp edges. You could even see some untrimmed plastic bits on it.

All these do not deter the overall experience of owning the car. This was the reason why I am still confident enough to get the 1.4T after owning the 1.6l for almost 3 years. My current 1.4T is the latest face-lifted model.

As the saying goes, one buys emotionally then justifies logically. That's why buyer's remorse often may happens. Whether it's cruze, vezel, bmw, it's sama sama. Enjoy our rides; only 10 years nia...
