Reading through this thread again. It seems like TS close friend/family member are not telling the true things when selling the car to TS.

The car seems to had a lot of wear and tear failing soon and not replace yet, and the gear box is one of the expensive part.

Hence, buying items like car, life insurance, house via agent (relative).......best not go through relative.  Comes to $, very easily chut "PI pattern".

Worst part is, its also difficult for you to bang table.  Especially if that relative has good reputation amongst other extended-family members.  Then next CNY, 1 less house to vist, or go at different time so as to avoid...

Same applies to childhood friend, primary/secondary school friend.....etc.

relative with a stream 1.8 previously, heavy footer, reported 10km/litre when car was new.

I understand from WS outside that cibic 1.8, rebuilding the 5AT cost near 4k.

I'm driving a Honda Stream 07 model for coming to 4months. Usually 1 full tank is around 500-530km before light comes out. I'm running on 17" rims and quite a heavy footer at times especially on the moving off part. Normal driving 80-100km/hr.

Hi all guru, i am driving a honda stream 1.8x 2009 model. Just purchase this car from close family member. He is a careful driver thus i believe that the car has no previous problem.

But recently i realise that my car has slight longer time (1second more) to start engine when i turn on the key. SPark plug was removed to check and is in good condition.

Also, i experienced loss of power when going from 2000 rpm and above..specially when im trying to change lane and speed up. The car behave like "a buffalo", cant accelerate as fast and car from behind already came near me!! And sometime i tried to rev the rpm to 5-7rpm, i feel that the car is "free gear" ...i feel that the engine just keep turning at high speed but it feels that it nt engaged in any gear

**(hard to explain this feeling. the car seems to be at free gear which i cant really control the speed but to let go accelerator then the accelerator seems to be engaged into the gear for me to control the speed)

I tried to top up full and drive slowly. Full tank is about 470-480km. But the consumption sometime still state 9.9-10.2km/l

I heard from my close family he used to get 11-12.

Would like to check if anyone has this problem for

high fuel consumption

loss of power when overtaking

(*seriously mus solve this problem)

thanks in advane!!

Sound like auto-transmission slip. Have you send the car to a transmission specialist to check?

Any honda stream owner here ever changed ignition coil before?

My friend changed before, due to lost of power

F/c 9 to 10km/l is normal for city driving. 11 to 13km/l for highways

Hie Gurus,

My honda stream rsz has never had a chance in cvt oil ever l purchased it some 4 years ago at a mileage of 149000km and now its at 207000 km, l have noticed tht it now making a lot of noise be it on starting or on driving forward bt on reversing wiithout pressing the gas no such noise is made by the engine, when accelerating the vehicle behaves as if struggling.

Is it CVT? The RSZ I remember is running on the 5speed planetary gearbox. The same as my 8th gen FD Civic I had years ago.

You are sure it's CVT?

If you look under the hood the passenger side, near the headlight there should be a short dipstick for the gearbox. You pull it out and look at the oil level and see what oil colour.

Stream is using 5 sp conventional gearbox. You 4 years never change transmission fluid? That is way overdue. I have a COE Stream with 230K km, I make it a point to change the ATF every year or about 20k km. It doesn't cost much, 4 bottles of ATF is about $60. I suggest that you change your ATF and see if it works for you.

Stream is not using CVT. It's using the conventional torque converter 5AT.

FYI for any cars using CVT gb it's also mated to a torque converter.

Interval gb fluid change should be between 50K km to 80K km.

The colour of the oil is orangish and the noise will be heard coming from the Right side front engine side away feom where the gearbox is located

Cannot be. I remember when i service the car with AD, they recommended to change ATF at 40k. So the cost for every 40k is higher. But as the car age i started to stick with 20k. So far so good, no gear slip no jerk..and most imptly no need to overhaul and such.
