Was it becos of valve part hitting cover after caved in?

Never ever heard of valve cover change. Vios and axio use the 1nz-fe engine. It's reliable. People in other countries have used this engine for much higher mileage and never reported any valve cover issues? I still find it hard to believe. The only way the valve cover can be damaged is you whack it with a hammer or grossly over torque one bolt such that it cracks. The valve cover is like what it's called, just a cover. It does not undergo any stress.

There was no caved in from what I observed.

Just some soft deposit above the seal which my mechanic claimed there was a crack which oozed engine oil.

Ya abit unbelievable or stun like vegetable when my mechanic claimed it cracked.

Told him my ride has got no accidents and thus unlikely a hard metal cover can just cracked like it.

It is not subjected to any excessive tensile nor compressive stresses nor subjected to very high heat though EO would be hot when the pistons are moving.

Will have to ask for a second opinion lo machiam see med specialist like that.

So then would it b possible a ws mech accidentally damaged it during service at one of the intervals? If this e case better to check n go thru w mech before hand n take over car.

Both are using similar engines, but Toyota Axio is indeed using 2NZ-FE engine (110 bhp/ 140nm) which is also using different spark plug specs (longer type) from Vios 1NZ-FE engine (109 bhp/ 142nm).

I only learn about this when I purchased the Vios spec spark plugs initially, and only to find out Axio is using a different spec.

Perhaps this 2NZ-FE engine really do have this inherent valve cover issue, but definitely not a big wear and tear issue.

2NZ-FE is a 1.3L engine. i doubt any were imported to Singapore. and i doubt any even exist.  probably a typo, should be 1NZ-FE

Hi,

Anyone know where to get a re-con cvt gear box for 2007 axio, my workshop does not seem to be able to get one. Or any workshop that can fix the gearbox

The engine oil leak is due to the engine top cover gasket.

Usually, you can fix it by re-tightening the top cover that has loosen over the years of usage.

However, if you are keeping the car for a longer period (>10yrs) , it is good to have the gasket replaced.

The gasket is about $15.  I expect the replacement with gasket to cost about $100.

For me I did it DIY on the Altis.

Neutral Newbie

Hi all,

I recently encountered 2 issues on my 2008 Axio.

1) When I step on the gas slowly (eco on), the rpm feel like dropping when it reaches 20kmh - 45kmh. After 50+kmh it went smooth again.

2) After few weeks on this issue, the gear changing (shift up/down) at this speed range suddenly have a "choke" feeling. After it pass the 50+kmh, it went smooth again

Is it a sign of my gear box spoil soon? I brought it to mechanic and they change to a Toyota recommended transmission oil but issue remains. They suggest to open the gearbox for further diagnostic which could potentially cost from hundred to thousand depend on overhaul or 1-to-1 replacement.

Any advice?

Thanks.

dead, cannot move the car. Cannot get recon gearbox. Need to over haul the gear box at $2500. In JB my mech said can get re-con at RM3k. Go and figure why they dont sell AXIO but can get gearbox. I know of 2 more AXIO with gearbox problems.

Yes,having the same issue with my 08'AXIO. After reaching 20-30km/H, the rpm seem to have a flat spot and stepped harder to past 50km/H. The speed was smooth again... Have u done the repair? Thanks

Hi, may I ask what is the mileage of your Axio? I'm contemplating getting an 08 Fielder, I believe these 2 models share the same engine and CVT gearbox?

Thanks in advance.

Hi there ppl,

I am new in this forum and am desperate for help.

I am driving a year 2008 toyota axio and it's starting to give me problems.

Car will STALL while idle, moving off after stopping or at low speed. Recently got really problematic as it needs a few turns on the ignition before it can get going again.

I have changed the parts stated below:

Airflow sensor, Air vacuum sensor, fuel pump and filter system, and have the throttle body cleaned as well.

None of those changes work and to be honest, I have been going from WS and they can't find the root cause of the problem.

Need you guys kind assist in this.

Thanks.

Usually I would recommend to try a bottle of Caltex Techron in the fuel tank to clean the valves and fuel injectors.
