Actually I had called for Gunners to go for Wanyama previously to supplement Coq but Wenger went for Xhaka instead who costs 3 times more but obviously he has more to offer as well but my take was that Gunners have plenty of creative, pacey guys with other strengths as well but lack physicality which Wanyama can offer in abundance. Is he 1/3 of Xhaka? Jury still out.

As for Pool, he would be a prefect fit as well esp as Klopp likes his FB's to bomb up. Wanyama covers Spurs FBs well. Spurs FBs are very much one of the reasons why they are so strong currently and if an opponent can exploit the space behind them, some possibility of turning the tables on Spurs but easier said than done cos Wanyama and Sissoko does alot of good leg work to cover them.

i think once the price tag is more than 20m, can't really compare quality in a proportional manner.

You have to pay a very high marginal cost for slightly better quality since you can only put 11 players on the pitch.

So for instance, pogba cost 7-8 times more than joe allen. it doesn't mean that he is 8 times the player joe allen is. I think it is prob 10% more and u have to pay a premium for that 10% more

(although i have heard from a lot of people that joe allen is in fact better than pogba    )

Haha ya lah just figuratively speaking only :D

No way is any player worth 3 times more than another professional, not even Messi! I like Wanyama as those who read my previous posts will know. Xhaka, I not familiar with so will reserve comment for now but he's not pure DM for sure and so shld have a better all round game.

Either way, I feel both Wanyama and Xhaka better than the overrated(my opinion only) William Carvalho!

actually if you see the way Klopp sets up the team nowsadays, he doesnt fancy a DM specialist. Hence, Emre Can and Lucas are not the current starting 11 even though they are fit now.

Wanyama is a pretty classical DM to me.  he protects the back 4 effectively, allowing Spurs to literally play a 4-1-4-1 formation.

most likely Wanyama din pass the audition / interview with Pool lah. he didint score against Pool when he played against them. Mane did.. the rest is history  [rifle]

You got a point on Klopp not fancying a pure DM but it's a fact that Spurs let it less goals than Pool and in fact they have one of the best defences so Wanyama, Dier etc has been effective but each coach has his own ideas so I won't question Klopp but he should not have the mentality that he knows best and not willing to change if the situation demands. So far, he doesn't seem like that type though.

Wenger used to be like that thinking we play our way and let the opposition worry about us n even vs Barca, he will stick to his style but he has changed since and for the better I must add.

JM just the opposite, sometimes I feel he stifles his own team strengths by trying to negate the opposition strengths. He was definitely like this at Chelsea but I also sense some change when he took over United cos surely he has to free his many talented players to get the best out of them, my 2 cents.

As said before, Klopp does want a DM in a 4-2-3-1. He didn't go for it because the current batch of midfielders are more suited to play 4-3-3 now.

Let's complete his transformation of this team. Quite sure there will be a DM once we are playing 4-2-3-1

Firstly, good to hear your son takes after you in football passion [thumbsup]

I hope he is serious and shows commitment. Encourage him as what I like about sports is that it toughens your Mental Strength which is something you can only gain during competitions when you win and lose, good luck!

I'm happy to hear that the local coaches are implementing latest tactics and are in touch with what the 1st World football nations are doing so credit to them on that.

Playing from the back is my own personal dislike so just my view on it. Incidentally, most of the British ex-players and pundits are like me or maybe I'm influenced by them [:p]  Tim Sherwood blasted Bravo during HT when he was the studio guest at the Spurs v City game and like me, he feels he's taking unnecessary risks. Subjective I guess and as they say football is all about opinions. Even amongst the Mgrs, I think Pep, Klopp and Poch subscribes to this whereas Conte, JM and Wenger doesn't do it. This playing from the back could be a passing fad or it could be here to stay, we shall see but can't help feel cos Pep endorses it, most will follow cos he is afterall supposedly the world's top coach, cheers!

You ancient lah [:p]  [:p]  [smash]

The 10 fastest players in the EPL, didn't expect it to be Shane Long though I know he is quite fast!

Usual suspects Walcott, Bellerin, Walker and Vardy are all there.

Wah this is surprising indeed...

I thought Bellerin is the fastest, so end up he's the slowest on this list...

Shane Long played in SGP before right? Can we say we made him this fast?  [laugh]

According to the Times, talks with the reps of Ozil and Sanchez are due to reopen after the international break this month, with both players understood to be asking for £250,000 a week — £70,000 a week more than the figure discussed during preliminary negotiations 12 months ago.

Not sure if Arsenal's wage structure can support.
