An Emirates Airlines Boeing 777-300, registration A6-EMW performing flight EK-521 from Thiruvananthapuram (India) to Dubai (United Arab Emirates) with 275 people on board, was on final approach to Dubai's runway 12L at 12:41L (08:41Z) but attempted to go around from low height. The aircraft however did not climb, but after retracting the gear touched down on the runway and burst into flames. All occupants evacuated safely, no injuries are being reported. The aircraft burned down completely.

The airline reported: "Emirates can confirm that an incident happened at Dubai International Airport on 3rd August 2016 at about 12.45pm local time."

United Arab Emirates Government confirmed an Emirates aircraft arriving from India suffered a crash landing at Dubai Airport, all passengers have been evacuated, there are no reports of injuries.

According to ATC recordings the aircraft performed a normal approach and landing, there was no priority or emergency declared. Upon contacting tower tower reminded the crew of lowering the gear and cleared the aircraft to land. Another approach reported on tower frequency. About 2 minutes after EK-521 reported on tower, the crew reported going around, tower instructed the aircraft to climb to 4000 feet, the crew acknowledged climbing to 4000 feet, a few seconds later tower instructs the next arrival to go around and alerts emergency services. The position of the aircraft is described near the end of the runway.

Turbocharged

Quick evacuation saves all lives. Imagine with close to 300 passengers it was not something easy unless crew was well-trained and prepared.

Luckily being in the landing phase the plane had not much fuel remaining so minimize the severity of the fire.

Too early to tell what happened but it seemed a normal landing but tried to go-around for some reason. Aircraft continued to sink and unfortunately landing gear was not lowered.

Excerpt from US FAA certification for new airplanes :

For airplanes having a seating capacity of more than 44 passengers, it must be shown that the maximum seating capacity, including the number of crew members required by the operating rules for which certification is requested, can be evacuated from the airplane to the ground under simulated emergency conditions within 90 seconds.

This means the airplane must be able to be completely evacuated within 90 seconds. However, during certification, most test passengers are staff members of the airplane manufacturer and the evacuation is not done under duress.

Footage taken from inside the Emirates cabin after the plane belly landed.  You can see some passengers trying to get their overhead luggage.  Then you can hear the cabin crew shouting "jump jump jump!"   Looks like the cabin crew did an admirable job.  All lives were saved.

Crush landing so scary and the plane can explode any seconds. Luckily all managed to escape before the plane explode! Looks like nowadays so many plane incidence happened, no matter on which airline.

Don't know what's the reason pilot abort landing. Must be something within the plane prompted pilot to climb again. I guess landing gear could not be deployed or forgot to deploy landing gear. Else, no reason to not land. Other possibilities could be wind shear can't function normally etc.

After watching the video of the passenger, they are bloody cock that almost cause lives. Still take simi LJ luggage. Really damn selfish.

Did the new generation black box transmission work. When will the airline release the reason for the crash landing ……

The terrified passengers on Emirates Flight 521 may have still been running across the runway after the Boeing 777 crash landed, while unseen critical information about what went wrong was already being sent to the airline.

A tiny transmitting device, small enough to fit in a hand, used a mobile data network to download off the plane all the information from the flight data recorder.

Nine minutes after the aircraft came to rest, all data was in the hand of the airline,” said Raul Segredo, president of Avionica, the company that provides the equipment to Emirates.
