At its core, the 2017 CR-V adopts a more powerful version of the Civic's 1.5-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder engine. Blessed with 190 horsepower and 179 pound-feet of torque, it has 16 extra ponies and 17 extra torques on offer compared to the compact sedan. The flipside is that peak torque is available along a narrower part of the rev range, from 2,000 to 5,000 rpm instead of the Civic's broader 1,700 to 5,500 revs. This will be the standard engine on all but the very base CR-V, so Honda’s estimated 75-percent take rate makes sense.

Goodbye Qashqai , we got a new winner here.

I would agree... if the pricing gap to Qashqai weren't 30 to 40% ! Different category - the Nissan equivalent of the CR-V is the Xtrail not the Qashqai.

Under the hood is a 1.5 litre turbocharged engine – the first blown unit for a CR-V. The direct-injected DOHC unit gets a power boost over the unit in the Civic FC, rated at 190 hp at 5,600 rpm and 243 Nm of torque between 2,000 to 5,000 rpm. The turbo CR-V now features a Remote Engine Start system, a la the Civic.
Inside, the 2017 CR-V is claimed to raise the bar for interior refinement, utility and premium features. Now with a longer wheelbase – 2,660 mm vs 2,620 mm – the new SUV boasts a more spacious cabin, with “top-in-class interior space and the best rear seat legroom in its class.” It remains a five seater, though, despite earlier rumours of it gaining two extra seats. Upping the premium factor is the use of upgraded materials throughout the interior, including an instrument panel that now has a colour screen. A new Android-based 7.0-inch touchscreen display audio system is featured here, with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support. Dual-zone air-con, Ambient LED lighting, electronic parking brake and rear USB ports are among the new additions.

This will be a interesting addition to the Honda stable. And that new engine is very impressive indeed..

Honda should mate the 1.5T engine with the smaller HR-V / Vezel.

They will have a sure winner there! ðð¼

Doubt they will fit a 1.5 turbo into vezel. Vezel hybrid has around 8.5 seconds 0 to 100km/h acceleration with good fuel figures.

Some sort similar or better numbers than the 1.5 turbo.

This is the same as the existng 2.4l engine so it is just a replacement no upgrade. In some aspects can be a downgrade. Advantage is lower rd tax. Will only be interesting if they use the 2.0 turbo engine to give the forester xt a challenge, even if costs a few 10ks more.

Wish they will put the 1.5T engine in Odyssey too for the 2017 face lift.

Maybe they will put the 2.0T with 306 bhp in their Ody Absolute
