Some ppl think it will promote Singapore worldwide be it tourism or trade. But the way they execute the plan is fail. The F1 area is basically shut off and in the world of its own. It's more like a prison race dan anything else. Everywhere is fenced-up and no access to the public. Even tourists who are here not for F1 are blocked unless they pay $$$. Shops there hardly see any business during F1 week. So they either do renovation or close and let staff clear leave. Becoz of $$$ they turn the place into a fortress. Even the public wants to avoid the place at all cost. The bad traffic conditions it can cause.

Finally.

After so much inconvenience caused to citizens and businesses, they finally got someone to do a proper cost benefit analysis....

Good riddance.

Actually sadly speaking I am kind of excited towards September as the drivers fly in and do those charity events and fan meet-ups. I guess I am the only one to miss it then.

Since Malaysia is giving up maybe we can still try to hold it for another season...maybe because we are the only race in this region things may turn around and work out?

Otherwise next year's SG race may see record turnout since last few one liao.. :TT_TT:

The more they try to "artificialise" things and scenes and copy (read casinos, flyer, etc) what have been done overseas, the more they will fail miserably.

Oh well... they are destroying our heritage in name of development. These heritage don't generate more $$$ to gahment versus spanking new malls, but they continue to attract visitors without much $$$ to be spent on them. One is come and forget, one is come and tell the rest to come and see...

Formula E is also declining. Look at the number of cities took part in the first season and now. Those that hosted Formula E, never returned for next season. [laugh]

Anyone watched Macau GP yesterday? They are into their 63rd!!! Lots of crashes and wheel banging. I watched from 10am till 4.30pm!!! The R8 that flipped and skided across the track on its roof was the best crash ever yesterday. The driver walked away from that major accident. Now thatz what we want here in SG!!!

The money could have been put to better use building our own motorsports/events facility to allow the grassroots to flourish and also provide an alternative venue for things like concerts and festivals.
