People who bought GT will say GT. People who bought Sharan will say Sharan. People who bought neither will say Ody, Estima, Orlando etc.  [laugh]

Jokes aside, assuming it's a straight choice between GT & Sharan, if your kids' pre-school are those drop/pickup and go type and/or you constantly find yourself struggling to load/unload your kids in tight parking spaces then you will find Sharan with its sliding doors a godsend. Also, Sharan has integrated child seats which eliminates the need for separate booster seats. All in all more child friendly I feel.

Note I may be slightly biased as I've chose the Sharan (though yet to take delivery) [:p] and the only problem is that the waiting time for Sharan is quite long, 3-4 months I think.

All the best Su27.

Hahaha. Some may try to complicate matters by recommending 3 row SUV.

Agreed the sliding door is so much more convenient. Weekday morning dropping off my 3 kids are a breeze. Press a button, off they go then press the same button again and move off. No worries whether they have enough strength to open/close the door, no need to get out of car to open the door for them like a chauffeur. Won't get stared by other parents behind us for taking too long.

well only had toyota and Honda before.

Yeah. Actually, I'm considering to keep on servicing with KM...

My mileage is low, 12k/year. So I only service once every 10mths.

I think every 6 monthly is bit overkill since i don't do much start stop traffic (roads are generally smooth to my clinic and back).

Exactly my sentiments.

My eldest daughter struggles every morning to open and close the door of my current SUV. If I get down to do it, the teachers will look at me one kind haha

Diesel car is out of the race.

Govt is bend on making a hassle driving a diesel. I bet the taxes just announced is the start of more to come in future.

Let's not talk about the $850 tax. That's peanuts considering you are going to spend 6 digits sum on a car.

The $0.10 per litre tax is the game changer. It slowly erodes the fuel savings between diesel and petrol. Don't forget the $0.10 is subject to gst. Diesel now is $1.35. Ron 95 $2.06. It will be $1.457 vs petrol $2.06.

Slowly but surely eroding the 2 gaps. Right now I think the savings are still there. I would say if you are not a heavy user then diesel is still fine. Those who needs to drive a lot, the $100 will not help much but again it's still cheaper than petrol. No? Edited by Extremme

I am guessing that for someone in the market for MPV, one of the objective is to move people  - big or small. If so, the Sharan will definitely serve this purpose well compared to the BMW. Even for young riders, the Sharan can easily swallow the car seats and still have decent space for other passengers. Reliability for my 3 year old Sharan has been good with minimal issues.

Having said that, I must say that the standard equipment level for the BMW and the drive is quite amazing considering that it is only 1500cc. As mentioned previously in the 2 series thread, IMO some of the standard equipment for the F46 are more useful than my F06!

To me, the key question for potential buyer when considering these 2 will be the seating comfort requirement.

Actually the car will be used to ferry to pre-schooling kids to and fro school. Once in a while, outings will bring maid and wife (the other maid).

And once in a blue moon, in-laws along to outings.

I have seen both cars. Sharan's interior equipments are comparable to 216d's.

But 216d is abit cramp on the second row. And its 3rd is miserable. But of course, its badge is one major trump card.

Let's wait til tomorrow's budget bomb explosion, and see what car categories are left standing.

Yup. Was taught this formula since day one. Actually those days was buy jap, avoid korean and French.

But I guess Koreans have improved much since.

Get Sharan and change the badge to BMW. Now you can have your cake and eat it.

On serious note, Sharan over 216 anytime. Get something that gets the job done properly.

Actually what are the differences between the eqp sharan and non eqp one? Just the navigation and 18inches wheels doesn't seems to warrant another 20k.

omvs differ by 7k
